Inspirational statements

"When the pain of being fat finally out-weighs the pleasure of eating, that's when motivation translates to action."

I just bought the Oxygen Magazine's Clean Eating issue and there is a lot of good info in there (just try to over look all the stupid ads for weight loss crap!)

Here's a couple more:

"The difference between the impossible and the possible lies in a person's determination." Tommy Lasorda

"People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathinig - that's why we recommend it daily!" Zig Kiglar

That's basically what sums it up for me. The pain just got to be too much for me and I no longer cared about the food. I figured the pain and discomfort of doing without the food could not be any worse then the pain I was in on a daily basis.

I heard this on the Oprah show "The Secret" which was so powerful for me but the quote was "Trying is failing with honor" which is so true you either do it or you don't! When that was said it just clicked for me quite trying and just do it already!

These are good! Thanks for sharing!

Here are a couple I found inspiring:

Take a more positive attitude about failure. Think of it as feedback, experience, practice. The real failure is when you don't try at all.

Remember that there is much more to who you are than what you weigh. Your personality, your outlook, how you help other people, what you do with your life is just as important. Self-esteem can be independent of the scale.

I like the quote:

To change one's self is difficult because you must be both the Artist and the Canvas.

OK, I want to cry reading this. I was a forced member of the clean plate club as a child, always told I was large framed, thats why I had so much extra weight and why I would never be within normal weight limits. My parents told me this to excuse my baby fat, that none of my siblings or cousins had. Then when I truly became a fat preteen, teen and adult, they tried forced diets etc. Which I lost on, but then regained. I never thought I could be healthy, fit, trim slender. I just "could not do it". But I can, and I do, everyday.

 Angi - YOU CAN DO IT!!!

Keep them coming ladies, I really love all of them!!

My favorite inspiration for weight loss is:

"The great thing in this world is not so much where we are, but in what direction we are moving." ~Oliver Wendell Holmes~

That's why I keep it in my signature. :D Great thread!

"If you want more, you have to require more from yourself." Dr. Phil

Here is a few of my favorites that I found one day when I was on the internet (trying to keep my fingers busy so I wouldn't pick up food ... I hate a sticky keyboard LOL) Sorry But I didn't write down who wrote them.

That which is bitter to endure, may be sweet to remember.

Your goals, minus your doubts, equals your reality!

Now for my 2 favorites

You don't drown by falling in the water. You drown by staying in there! (This web site is my life vest!!!!)

The difference between try and triumph is just a little UMPH!!!!
(Love it!)

I have this quote posted in my classroom. It's so meaningful for me, I thought I should put it up and see if it could inspire my students to achieve their goals as well.

Mrs Quadcrew 02-22-2007 08:32 AM

These are all great! I have printed them out and have them posted in varous places now. (thanks ladies!!)

RitzyFritz 02-22-2007 10:35 AM

I agree, Mrs Quadcrew - these ARE great!!! I started to post a favorite of mine (If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got) but see that it is Val424's signature!! I have always used that as a motivator to make changes where appropriate or stagnate in the rut I'm in!

Keep 'em coming! These are great!

I just LOVE this thread!!!

This favorite quote by Henry Ford is in my siggy. Found it a few years ago when I was taking a Leadership class. "If you think you can do a thing or cannot do a thing, either way you are right." Since I strongly believe that "dieting and exercising" are 90% mental, this just sums it all up.

The other post by Jennifer Garner (Alias anyone? :D) is recent. "I got on the treadmill, stopped stuffing my face and lost the weight". She was lamenting about not having lost the baby weight (ok, so she was complaining that she was wearing "like a 6 or an 8; ok more like an 8"). I still like the quote cause it's basically saying move and eat less. Sometimes I find it motivational on the exercise part but often find myself reading the "stopped stuffing my face" part over and over. A handful of m&m's will do fine; I really don't need to eat a 1/2 lb. party bag!!

Keep these quotes and saying coming. I can use all the inspiration there is!!
