Diagnosis: Diethead.

Sometimes as the “official” weekly weigh-in approaches, I get an acute attack of dietheadus severis.  Rather than just accept the number that shows up on the scale, I think about how to game it. Drink more water! Have some extra salad! Drink less water! Eat only after the scale visit! Take a few fibre capsules!. Wear lightweight clothes! Brew and drink some completely unnecessary “get things moving” tea!

I know what the number is on my home scale when I weigh naked first thing in the morning. Why do I care what the number is hours later after having eaten, trekked to work, had litres of water and put on clothes?

Note: Activities usually performed in another order 😉

I never know how or when diethead is going to appear. I’m following this food program to change my biochemistry and improve my health. Why do I get sucked in by diethead and her “number on the scale” fixation? Who is really being fooled by the games?

What are some of the silly games diethead has you do? What do you say or do to move past the diethead/sillyhead ideas?

    Oh yea, there are times the diet head comes out. The new one has been increasing my potassium to help with the water weight that seems to be showing up at odd times. But… I found coconut water this way 🙂 Hope the weighin went well!

    I know just what you mean. I am finally losing weight again after an almost three week stall yet I feel more bloated. Especially my stomach and ankles so now I am wondering if I have lost weight but am retaining more water. I know I need to drink more water. Sometimes I forget to do some of the essentials like the water drinking. Glad to see your weight loss! We both started about the same time and I am down about 38 lbs. Some weeks though I lose nothing then a four pound drop seemingly overnight! Isn’t IP wonderful!

    I know this attitude! I get it once a week and it’s silly. It’s as if we are weighing in to please a scale. Keep the focus on the real priorities.

    Marion Great to see you here. That’s a really helpful insight about who we’re trying to please. Wow, how ridiculous is it to aim to please an inanimate object? I’d say it’s completely ridiculous and entirely human.

    I have this same problem every week. I think I get so scale obsessed I stall my weightloss some how. I went a whole week last week without weighing in. I think I’m going to try it again next week to see if that helps. Ugh, the mental games we play with ourselves.
