Happy Saturday!

Well, it’s a beautiful (if hot!) Saturday here in Virginia Beach. I don’t have to work today, so I made a big yummy (off plan) breakfast for hubby and I. Waffles with blueberries and whipped cream, scrambled eggs, and sausage patties. Breakfast was 1100 calories! 😮 wow! Gonna keep it super light for the rest of the day, get a good bit of exercise in and chug down that water! I might not win, but I’m gonna try to combat the unhealthiness of breakfast with good choices the rest of the day.

I will for sure do 30 minutes of exercise. Probably not with Leslie Sansone, but I MIGHT do 2 miles with her as an addition to 30 minutes on the Wii Fit. We’ll see how the day shapes up and how my ankle feels.

Other than that, it looks like it’s gonna be a simple domestic day at home with the hubby 🙂 Life is good!

Been a while…

Hey folks!

I know it’s been quite a while since I’ve posted. Adjusting to married life is taking a lot of my energy and attention at the moment… But since I’ve got a few minutes, and hubby is at work, I thought I’d pop in and give an update on the goings on.

On the weight loss front: after a quick gain from the honeymoon, and an equally quick loss of that weight, I’m back down, and just a smidge below where I was before the wedding. Yesterday saw me at 267.2, I’m hoping my noon weigh in will not show much of a gain (I def went over my calories yesterday, but there was a birthday celebration for my husband involved, so they don’t count, right?). I’m hoping all the moving around of cooking all the food and the cleaning of the kitchen sort of negate the calories from the cake. But I did get all my water in for the day… that counts for something right?

On the NSV front: I can wear my rings on my middle finger now, and I can wear my husband’s ring (which is a size smaller than mine) on my ring fingers. ALSO, I tried on the Ralph Lauren jeans… and they fit! so that’s a NSV goal I can check off of my list 😀

On the marriage front: OMG my husband is a bed hog… I’m not sleeping as well as I used to because he takes his half of the bed out of the middle! haha. I love him to death, but this adjusting to another body in the bed is gonna take some time. But I do love cooking for him every day. For some reason that just makes me happy.

The lack of sleep and the impending TOM visit are likely why I spent 3-4 days stuck at the exact same weight. Got a good night’s sleep and whoosh, there went that weight. It could also be the fact that I like the hubby to eat yummy food, and his definition of yummy and my definition of “diet” really don’t overlap much.

Anyway, I’m still around, and still on track… Just busy adjusting to my role as a wife 🙂 I hope everyone’s having a GREAT month so far!

Also, to close, here is a wedding photo 🙂

Changed the ticker!

I am down to 271.8! meaning just a measly 2 pounds until I’m out of the “Morbidly Obese” category. I CAN’T WAIT!! I’m sitting here eating my dinner (of spaghetti + chunky garden ragu + seasonings, no meat!, a plain piece of bread, and brussel sprouts) thinking “oops, probably should have worked out *before* stuffing my face”… but that’s okay! I’ll hit up the workout in about an hour or so. And “stuffing my face” is accurate. OH MAN. SO much food in front of me for less than 600 calories. And SO much better for me than the ramen noodles I was craving. Much lower on the sodium, in any case. I think I’ll finish it up with a granola bar so I can have a taste of something sweet, and then chug down some water.

8 more days until the wedding! 2 pounds in 8 days? 1 pound every 4 days.. I can do that. I CAN *SO* DO THAT!

Weekend over.

My weekend this week was Monday and Tuesday. So, as of now, the weekend is over for me. I generally love having days off of work, however, days off of work mean lots of free time and eating. Yesterday I went over on my calories because I ate for comfort after a fight with the significant other.  I didn’t do a horrible horrible binge. Just a spoonful of peanut butter with a bunch of Special K mutli grain crackers. I didn’t even see a gain this morning. So yeah, I like to think I controlled that better than I actually did, but I know I shouldn’t have done it at all.

Anyway, today I went to mom’s. Always a food challenge. While I was there I consumed 8oz light cranberry juice and a small amount of beef jerky, a small plate of spaghetti, a bunch of baby carrots (like a cup), a banana, and a fiber bar. As well as drank almost 1.5L of water. I was there for about 8 hours, so i guess that’s not too awful. A meal and a small snack. I came home and had a half PBJ and a granola bar to end my day, as well as the first 2 miles of “Walk Your Belly Flat”… I would have done more, but my stomach started rolling, probably not good to exercise with a lot of food in the tummy, eh?

Oh well. Day’s over, and I’m tired. Four days of work, Sunday off for church and a Jack & Jill shower for the fiance and I (given by his grandmother and a friend of hers from church) then Four more days of work, and then my vacation time starts for wedding and related festivities. Rehearsal dinner, the main event, honeymoon, and movin the new hubby into my place.

Early days…

It’s so difficult for me to stay within my calories on the days my work schedule shifts me to the beginning of the day! When I work 2-11, I basically do intermittent fasting, with calorie counting. I don’t eat before work, I don’t eat at all until 4pm, when I have something small, usually trail mix. Then a sizable meal at 6 and again at 11, no more food after I eat at 11, bedtime at 2am. I get meals where I feel full, I don’t stress much about ‘bad’ foods because if they sneak in, they usually fit, and my weight has been going down.

When I work early shifts, like today’s 8am – 5pm, or yesterdays 6am – 3pm, fitting my food into that same type of window just isn’t possible! my window for food is usually about 7 hours, with a slight adjustment up sometimes if I get out of work late. I can’t do those hours when I’m working so early! I’m on my feet all day moving around, and if I don’t eat during that time, I get really dizzy or I get a bad headache. My window, when I work the late shift, is slightly offset from my work schedule. It opens 2 hours after I get to work when I take a break, and it closes shortly after I get off work, after I eat my meal at the end of the day. On 6-3 days, that would mean my window to eat is only open from like 8am to 3pm-ish. or 10am to 5pm-ish today. NOT going to work for me. So I suspend my IF type rules, and then eat a little more spread out. So I can’t eat the meals like I’m used to. I try to do a large lunch meal, mid work shift, then have a graze type meal when I get home, and a larger meal later. So far, it’s been working, but it hasn’t been super easy.

Luckily for me, I don’t seem to be as uber sensitive to carbs as some people, but I am pretty sensitive to sodium, so I try to keep that under 1800mg (MOST OF THE TIME I succeed). Today I went over 1800 by a little bit because I didn’t realize there was so much sodium in the BBQ sauce I put on my chicken. I’ve been drinking extra water to see if that helps. But I wouldn’t be surprised at a gain on the scale tomorrow.

Had a good workout today with my Leslie Sansone DVD! I decided to stop after mile 2, because my ankle was starting to protest. (I’m currently using 5 Mile Fat Burning Walk DVD), then later after some ice and ibuprofen got up and did mile 1 again. It felt good to get up and move, and I LOVE how the 12 minutes seem to just pass in a blink during the workout. 🙂

Today I can officially move my ticker past the 25lb mark. I’m so excited about that! Even if I don’t lose any more weight in the next 2 weeks, I will have done what so many women do not manage to do… lose a significant amount of weight before my wedding!

Okay, so I was kinda bad today, and had a peanut butter cookie and some potato chips, BUT, they fit into my calories, so I didn’t go over to have them… And I don’t feel the least bit guilty! If I see a gain from the salt in the chips, then so be it. I enjoyed sticking my toe back into the ‘junk food’ pool for a meal. What’s the rule? “Everything in moderation!”…. I think I did just that!

Unfortunately tomorrow’s weigh in will likely be a little bit off due to the fact that I have to work at 6am, so I won’t get much down time to let the day’s food wear off… s’ok! I almost always have a bounce up on Saturdays, then it goes back down plus a bunch during the week. Fingers crossed for 4.6 more pounds over the next 2 weeks! I would LOVE to be below 270 for my wedding!

Punching air!

I forgot how much fun rhythm boxing is! Ohmigosh my arms burn like whoa the next day but it’s a super fun work out (at least to me!) I can pretend I’m beating the fat monster back! Cheesy I know, but I can’t let it control me.  Not if I want to get down to a healthy weight to have a baby. And I am expected to have at least 2, possibly 3.

The moms at the bridal shower were going on about being excited to be grandmothers and “you need to have one soon”…  Yeah, well, I’d rather not have a baby at near 300lbs, and I’d rather not move all around the country a couple times either pregnant or with an infant. I’ve accepted the fact that I will not have children until I’m in my early 30s, and that’s okay. Women do it all the time.

Today the little wii man surprised me, and showed me 276.0, which is a pretty significant loss from yesterday. My goal today is just to maintain that, I somehow skipped 277 all together, and am not sad about it. Today is a fruit, yogurt, and oatmeal day, and I’ll make sure to have some cashews or peanut butter to get the necessary healthy fats in. Extra exercise to help fight off the sugar calories from yesterday, and LOTS of water! There isn’t anything a little hard work and determination can’t accomplish 🙂

oh, and a bonus! picture of me opening presents at the shower last night… trying to untie knots that the lady behind me made difficult, because apparently however many ribbons you break is how many children you’re going to have… (inside the bag was a pack of amp for energy on the wedding night (lol), a gift card to applebees, and a generic visa gift card) 🙂

Excited to be back on track!

Yesterday I was sad to think about not eating anymore of the junk food i’ve indulged in over the weekend, and the leftovers through yesterday. Today I woke up and could barely pull my ring off (my test of bloatedness), then saw a gain of .4 to 279.1 on the scale. After seeing that, it made me happy to know that today I can be 100% back on track because all the junk food and salt that makes me bloat is gone! It’s out of the house, and I’m back to my regularly scheduled healthier foods.  My ankle is feeling less broken today too, so hopefully that means I can get some time in with the rhythm boxing later.

I love me some rhythm boxing! I’ve got a whole game from golds gym based solely on boxing, and I LOVE it. I think I will eventually cycle back and forth between boxing and free step to focus on upper one day and lower the next, but for now the boxing seems to be the smarter choice since my ankle is being wonky again (stupid tendonitis). I’m wearing my brace to work just in case.

Even with my slight gain (up almost a pound from my low!) I’m still feeling good today, and know that going back on plan will see that pound gone, plus some. I can’t give up, not yet. It’s only been six weeks. I’m definitely learning new things about my body (like how I tend to gain during ovulation, not my actual period), and how sodium seriously affects my weight, but carbs don’t seem to have a horrible effect. Sugar in moderation seems to be okay, but really super processed stuff (like diet candy) tends to not work out so well. Lunch meat (which I had for dinner last night – turkey on whole wheat), with all of it’s processed saltiness is the worst. I almost always show a gain the next day if I eat something like that for dinner. Even with almost a gallon of water yesterday, I couldn’t flush the sodium out.

So the plan for today is: oatmeal + fruit or yogurt + skim milk for lunch, and tilapia fillet + brussell’s sprouts for dinner. snack at work will likely be a bag of raisinettes or trail mix. breakfast right now is a piece of toast with a little peanut butter and jelly and an apple. snack later will likely be a fiber bar. and all day long WATER WATER WATER! i need to get back on track with my water. this weekend really threw me off!

Weekly Weigh in!

Well, the bad news is, my weight this morning was up .6lbs from yesterday, putting me at 282.4.

The good news is, I lost 2.4lbs this week, and managed to stay completely on plan with food, I only missed one day of exercise, and I managed to drink 2.5L-3L of water every day. So that mysterious bump is probably just my body being my body, and prepping for TOM to show up. Lord knows the cravings and cramps that go with TOM have already made themselves known.

Yesterday I was craving frosted flakes, and today I was craving s’mores granola bars (and a Big Mac from McD’s)… At least 2 out of 3 were things I could easily fit into my plan for the day. So now I’ve got chicken breast from the rotisserie chicken, some hummus, the s’mores granola bars, a couple boxes of instant oatmeal, tilapia, apples, bananas, broccoli, frozen veggies, and small red potatoes tp get me through the week. Lots of healthy!

Though I must confess to buying a dozen mini choco-fudge cupcakes from the bakery… they were on sale and I know my chocolate craving will go nuts this week. They are 100cals apiece, but they are really small… the good thing is, they pack a rich chocolate taste that will easily satiate that craving without forcing me way over my calorie limits for the day. I will be sure to budget room for a choco-fix or two the next few days.

I need to buy yogurt. My fridge is weirdly empty without it.

Dinner was dangerous…

I could definitely sit and eat a whole rotisserie chicken, given enough time. even being full i was still picking at pieces of it because it was SO GOOD. i had some broccoli with it, as well as some hummus with some special K crackers. Those things are dangerous too! you can eat 24 of them in a serving, for 120 calories. 5 calories apiece! that can’t be too bad right…. unless you sit and eat 3 servings because they are whole grain with that hint of sweetness.

Grocery shopping this weekend so I can stock up on fruits and veggies. Hummus is my new addiction though. IT’S SO GOOD! Especially the roasted red pepper hummus with that hint of spiciness. Yummy. How did I not know about this stuff before?!

Anyway, starting tomorrow, I will only be updating my ticker on a weekly basis so I’m not stressing the occasional water gain that happens in the day to day, though I will still weigh in daily. Seeing a steady drop every week will keep me on track much better than an up and down daily change.

Also, TOM’s due the middle of next week. I’m dreading it! It will be the first time I have to sift through the cravings and cramps and tiredness since I started this attempt at weight loss. Hopefully I can make it through without too much of a gain.

So now that I’ve let dinner digest a bit and I don’t feel so full, I’m gonna go do my 30 mins of step aerobics. I’m hoping that in the near future I won’t be so tired and out of breath at the end!

Good Night!
