Getting Healthy for Life

The weekend is always off-plan

Posted by: sgregg In: Getting healthy|Life ramblings

I have steadily been going up in weight since the weekend got here.  It started Friday though.  I was on plan Thursday and Friday so I don’t know what the deal is there.  Anyway, I’m just hoping to have a loss by Tuesday.  My weekends always seem to be off-plan anyway.  That is ok by me as long as I can get a weekly loss.  I got my Jillian dvd back yesterday so I will start doing that every other day or even every day if I have time.  DS decided he wanted to do it today.  He even used cans of peaches for weights…haha!  It was pretty funny and he said his legs are sore.  I hope they don’t get as sore as mine were.  Mine still have some soreness and it’s been 4 days!!  Anyway, I definitely have to invest in some new and better shoes.  The ones I have now are just not helping me at all.  They are New Balance, but they are just worn out, I guess.  My feet are always hurting when I wear them.  I have always had feet problems.  Also, I might need to look into getting a knee brace.  Ever since college, I’ve had problems with my right knee.  It just feels like it’s grinding bone whenever I work it.  I over-exerted it back in 2002 and it has never been the same since.

So, I’ve noticed in the last few days that my motivation for calorie counting is dwindling.  This happens every time I count calories.  I’m good for a couple of weeks and then I just get tired of keeping track.  However, I am determined to get past this lack of motivation this time.  I may need to refresh my memory on all those people on 3fatchicks that have lost a ton of weight by sticking with it.  I love looking at their before and after pictures and reading about their struggles and what they went through to get to a good healthy weight.  It really helps in the motivation department.

A guy at church today (my age) was diagnosed with diabetes last week.  He was very upset and scared.  He has lost 2 family members to diabetes and he just doesn’t want to have his life end sooner if he can help it.  He’s not too terribly over weight, but I guess enough to matter.  He said he’s gotta get his sugar down.  It really hits home when you are close to the same age as someone diagnosed with a terrible disease.  The doctors told him not to worry too much, but he knows that he just has to get healthy.  He has 2 young boys that he has to live for.  Anyway, we all have faith that he will get through it and do what he has to do to lose the weight and reverse the diabetes.  I just felt so bad for him and it made me realize that getting healthy now is the right thing to do.  It’s better to do it now instead of waiting until it’s almost too late.

Okay, I’m just rambling now, so I’ll go.
