All about Beerab

Why hello there- I guess you stumbled upon my page and want to know more about me right? Okay well here goes…

I’m 26 years old, and my whole life I’ve been overweight- looking back I realize that it was all due to my PCOS. I was chubby as a child even though we hardly ever ate out and my mother cooked nutritious meals. Well then when I went to college I totally ballooned out. That’s when I found out (over 50 lbs later) that I had PCOS. At my heaviest weight I was 235 *cringe* Since last year I’ve been working hard and joined 3fc December of 2008. My ultimate goal is 135, but we’ll see how things go as time progresses, I’d LOVE to get down to my ideal weight by the next summer (2010), which means 100 lbs in 1.5-two years!.

I am married to a wonderful man and have been married the past four years (June 25th is our anniversary). Time flies when you are having fun, and we have a great relationship and are very happy. He supports me in my weight loss- but of course never having a weight problem himself my husband just doesn’t understand that I can’t eat like him- that can get annoying but he’s been so much better at it 😀

Here we are at Christmas a few years ago:

And my bday party two years ago:

I currently live in my mother’s house, up until a few months ago I was taking care of my brother AND sister, but my brother decided he didn’t want to live at home anymore and moved in with his father. Fine by me- he was very exhausting! So now its me, my husband, and 20 year old sister living in my mom’s house. I take care of all my mother’s finances, her home, her properties, and so on. It’s a nice arrangement and it helps hubby and I pay off our debts (boo debts).

We also have my bird Broccoli:

She’s a yellow undersided green cheek conure. She’s a year old now and you’d think since she’s just a bird she’s no trouble- BUT quite the opposite! A bird is not something that just sits in a cage- how would you like to sit in a cage all day? She’s like a toddler that DEMANDS a ton of attention. When we first had her we would hand feed her a few time a day (baby bird food) and now she wants to eat EVERYTHING mommy and daddy do. And if she doesn’t get to eat it she gets offended lol. When mama comes home she screams and shakes from excitement- she loves nothing more than to cuddle up on my chest and go to sleep while mama watches TV. And when it’s bedtime she whines cuz she doesn’t want to go to sleep lol. She’s a handful but she’s my precious darling and I love her!

My other bird is Cinnamon. He is also a green cheek conure but with a cinnamon colored Mutation 🙂 He’s very sweet and we got him in the beginning of June- he’s been with us just over a month and he’s slowly starting to trust us more. He has issues stepping up and sometimes wants his way- but he’ll learn. He LOVES Broccoli and of course she only tolerates him- but after a while she gets mad and pushes him away. They have seperate cages in case you were worrying 😉

Here is my little man:

He enjoys screeching at the top of his little lungs, loves playing with mommies hair, and hubby is his best friend apparently! He also enjoys daily baths- specially now since it’s so hot!

glad to see I am not the only 25 year old with PCOS! It sucks that it is so hard to lose the weight. I have two kids and got my tubes tied and that through it into even a bigger issue.

I know both PCOS and insulin resistance are tough, but really – you can do this. It just takes longer! Good for you both for going for it.

Look at you, you’re gorgeous! I just stumbled across this “About you” page (was this here before? I’m not very observant!) and now I finally have a mental picture of you!

Thanks eileen! No I just put it up, I thought I put up a photo of my guinea pig, but I’ll put it up later 🙂

Yeah I figure people would want a mental picture of WHO I am.

Your birds are adorable! You are beautiful as well, and you don’t look like 215 lbs! Maybe those were taken after you’ve lost weight? anyway, loved your “About You”…someday when I figure out HOW to update mine, lol, I’ll do that too. So cute how your bird sleeps on your chest, I could never imagine a bird wanting to do that! Sweet! And for what it’s worth, I started at 215 and am now at 130 to 138 (yes, I flucuate 8 lbs on any given day). So you CAN do it! It seems so very far away, but the fastest way to get there is truly one day at a time! Before you know it, the time DOES pass, the weight DOES melt off, and a smaller, healthier version of you DOES emerge!
