Cheater's Diet: 5 Breakfast Ideas

The Cheater’s Diet was created by weight loss specialist Dr. Paul Rivas. While on this diet, individuals will eat a low calorie diet during the week and then enjoy the weekends as cheat days. Dr. Rivas promotes this eating plan because he states that increasing calorie intake over the weekend will help increase a body’s metabolism rate and prevent the body from going into starvation mode. While on the Cheater’s Diet, individuals will eat three small meals and two snacks a day during the week. On the weekend, dieters are allowed “controlled cheating” where all foods are allowed, yet portion control and moderation must be exerted. Below are several breakfast ideas for weekdays while on the Cheater’s Diet.

Fruit and Eggs

  • 2 eggs
  • 1 orange or ½ grapefruit
  • 8 oz coffee or tea

This quick and easy breakfast allows for dieters to prepare two eggs any way they prefer. Remember to use nonstick spray instead of butter or margarine when cooking the eggs. Enjoy with fruit and a cup of coffee or tea. The hot beverage can be sweetened with no calorie artificial sweetener and fat free milk.

Fruit and Yogurt

  • 6 oz plain low fat or fat free yogurt
  • ½ cup strawberries or blueberries
  • 8 oz coffee or tea

For a portable breakfast, simply top one container of yogurt with fresh berries. If necessary, you can sweeten the yogurt with artificial, no calorie sweetener. Enjoy with a cup of tea or coffee, which can be sweetened.

  • ½ cup oats
  • 1 cup water
  • 8 oz unsweetened orange juice
  • 8 oz coffee or tea

For a warm and filling breakfast idea, simply combine oats and water together in a microwaveable bowl. Cook on high for 2 ½ minutes. Top oats with no calorie artificial sweetener. Enjoy with juice and a hot beverage.

Eggs and Bacon

  • 1 strip turkey bacon
  • 2 eggs
  • 8 oz coffee or tea

You probably did not expect to see eggs and bacon on a low calorie meal plan. For this indulgent tasting meal, simply cook the bacon to desired crispiness. Cook the eggs however you prefer. Only use nonstick cooking spray when cooking the bacon and eggs; do not use butter or margarine. Enjoy with a cup of coffee or tea.

Egg Omelet

  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 zucchini, mushroom, tomato or slice of reduced fat cheese
  • ½ grapefruit
  • 8 oz coffee or tea

Make this omelet by breaking the eggs into a bowl and whisking with ½ tbsp of water. Spray a skillet with nonstick spray and warm over medium heat. Add eggs and allow to cook for approximately 2 minutes. Top with one of the above vegetables or cheese on one side of the omelet. Allow to cook for another minute and then fold the omelet in half. Allow to cook one more minute or until eggs are set. Season the omelet with salt and pepper, if desired. Enjoy your omelet with a grapefruit and hot beverage.

Enjoy any of the above breakfast ideas during the week while on the Cheater’s Diet.
