8 Foods to Avoid on the 4 Day Diet

The 4 day diet is a diet plan that has 7 modules of 4 days each. Dieters are to follow each module by choosing from a variety of foods recommended in stated quantities. Each module only lasts 4 days, and it is designed to be followed in an easy way. While some modules are smooth and move in a comfortable way, others are the restrictive and moderate kinds. Sticking to these modules would be possible, as they are of short period and easily manageable.

While following the 7 modules, there are some foods that are to be avoided to see best results.

1. Low Fat Dairy Beverages

While using sugar for beverages, see to it that you do not use more than 1 packet. Do not use cream or milk in quantities greater than 1 tsp for 1 cup of coffee. Do not drink more than 2 cups of coffee.

2. Processed Foods

Processed foods are not recommended under the 4 day diet, though the diet recommends good amounts of carbohydrates and fiber. Do not opt for frozen vegetables or canned fruits, as they fall under processed foods. Even while choosing lean beef, turkey, chicken and fish, avoid processed ones. Avoid frozen dinners and frozen fish sticks.

3. Fructose Corn Syrup

Avoid using foods that are high in fructose corn syrup. Do not go for granola bars; though they are high in fiber and protein, they are also high in fructose corn syrup.

4. Red Meat, White Meat and Meat Organs

The 4 day diet recommends a protein rich diet. However, avoid chicken organs or chicken with skin. White meat is high in animal starch; choose skinless chicken instead. Do not go for red meats, but rather choose lean red meats and extra lean meats. Avoid pork, beef and ham hocks.

5. Fried Foods and Bread Spreads

One of the modules under the 4 day diet allows you to indulge in your favorite food. However, your favorite foods can be eaten only moderately. Try to avoid deep fried foods such as French fries, onion rings and fried fish. Also avoid bread spreads such as peanut butter spread and chocolate spread.

6. High Calorie Oils

Oils are to be used in a very limited quantity while cooking. Instead of using a teaspoon or tablespoon, use oil sprays instead. Avoid using oils that are high in calories, such as cod liver oil, peanut oils and refined oils.

7. Salad Dressings

Fat free dressings are allowed, but not regular kinds such as salad oils, sugar and Worcestershire sauces. Sauces are not recommended, as they have good amount of sugar.

8. High Calorie Veggies and Fruits

Though fruits and vegetables are highly recommended under the 4 day diet, high calorie fruits and vegetables are to be avoided. Potatoes, beetroot, yam, sweet corn, bananas, avocado, pears, dates, mango, jackfruit and coconut are to be avoided. Leafy vegetables and green salads are recommended instead.
