5 Foods that Help Reduce Hot Flashes

Hot flashes are often associated with menopause but the truth is that hot flashes can affect even women who are not menopausal. Needless to say, it is better to eat foods that are rich in soy instead of taking soy supplements. Tofu, whole soybeans, miso and soy milk are all rich sources of soy.


The benefits of flaxseeds seem to increase by the day. Aside from being a rich source of omega-3 fatty acids, it has now been found that they can also reduce hot flashes. Several other cool herbal teas like chamomile, mint and linden flower have also been found to soothe hot flashes and reduce its incidence. Drinking herbal tea throughout the entire day will not only keep you hydrated but will also soothe your body and mind. If you tend to experience hot flashes in your sleep, it’s a good idea to drink a cup of sage tea before you go to bed.

Knowing the foods that can trigger hot flashes is also important. Foods that are known to worsen hot flashes include caffeinated beverages, alcohol and spicy foods.
