Everyone wants great skin–but unfortunately, it does not always come naturally for all people. This article discusses five great ways that you can get and keep great looking skin. Not only will your skin look great, but it will also be healthy. You’ll be sorry you didn’t use these tips earlier!
1. Drink Water
Drinking enough water is probably one of the most important tricks to keeping your skin feeling good and looking great. Our bodies contain lots of water, and therefore it should be no surprise that when we are dehydrated, it is reflected by skin that is dry, dull and lined. For the best skin possible, be sure to drink at least 64 ounces of water per day–and even more if you engage in intense exercise or are exposed to high temperatures.
2. Wash Your Face
Washing your face each morning and night is also essential to keep your skin healthy. Your face is exposed to numerous chemicals and toxins over the course of the day. For example, your face may be exposed to sweat, dirt and even makeup. These elements can land in pores, causing breakouts, redness and irritation. Therefore, it is important to wash your face several times per day in order to allow them as little time as possible on your delicate skin.
3. Put on Sunscreen
As we learn more and more about how skin cancer develops, it is becoming more and more obvious that in order to prevent this potentially dangerous disease, it is essential to wear sunscreen when exposed to the sun. While many people do use sunscreen when sunbathing or swimming, you often aren’t aware that you may be exposed to the sun’s dangerous rays while traveling from your home to your car, while walking the dog, and through other similar means. It is important to use a lotion or makeup that contains high SPF in order to prevent sun damage, even when you’re not putting yourself directly under the sun.
4. Eat Your Vegetables
In order to keep your skin looking its best, it is essential that you eat lots of colorful vegetables. Vegetables contain high amounts of vitamins, minerals, fiber and antioxidants that are not only important for good health, but can treat and prevent the development of fine lines, cancer and age spots. Be sure to eat a variety of different vegetables in order to get the most balanced diet possible. Dietitians typically recommend “eating across the rainbow”–this means eating vegetables in a variety of colors in order to get lots of different vitamins and minerals.
5. Use a Moisturizer
Finally, be sure to use a moisturizer in order to keep your skin looking great. Use a high quality moisturizer at night before you go to bed, and again in the morning during your daily routine. Be sure to do some research on the moisturizer you are interested in before purchasing it; it is important to make sure that it is designed for your skin and will provide the most benefits.
