The Eat to Live Diet was created by Dr. Joel Fuhrman, who claims his carefully devised eating plan will help you lose weight while satisfying your hunger. The premise of his diet is that if you consume nutrient-dense foods found in nature, you will stay fuller for longer and eventually stop craving processed and unhealthy foods. His theory can be summed up by the following formula: Health = Nutrients/Calories. According to Dr. Fuhrman, this diet won’t only help you lose weight, but it will benefit your overall health as well.

The Eat to Live Diet is a strict eating regimen that includes lots of fruits and vegetables, tofu, and a small amount of grains and healthy fats. The diet restricts animal products, refined carbohydrates, saturated fats and processed foods. While some dieters will benefit from this way of eating, others simply won’t be able to adhere to the Eat to Live Diet. This diet may or may not be right for you, depending on your lifestyle and eating habits.

Vegetarians

This diet is ideal if you already follow a vegetarian eating plan. The plan encourages protein in the forms of legumes and tofu. Therefore, if you enjoy the taste and texture of tofu, and prefer tofu related products to their meat counterparts, then you should have no problem following through with the Eat to Live Diet.

If you are currently a meat eater and have been considering a vegetarian lifestyle, then you might benefit from the Eat to Live Diet. You must be serious about this major diet alteration and hold the motivation to carry through with the diet. You may need to slowly wean yourself off of meat and gradually adjust to this eating plan.

The Right Diet?

If you absolutely cannot go without meat, this diet is not for you. If you’re an athlete, perform strength training regularly or are extremely active, your body depends on a protein-rich diet to continue to build and repair your muscles. Since many proteins are found in animal products, the Eat to Live Diet probably won’t sustain your active lifestyle. Finally, if you can’t exercise self control and need some room to cheat, you most likely won’t benefit from the Eat to Live Diet.
