The Master Your Metabolism diet is more than just a diet, as it helps you to eliminate harmful toxins out of your life by getting rid of harmful household cleaners, certain medications and certain foods that you eat. She claims that it is the toxins that slow down the metabolism and cause you to gain unwanted weight. Therefore, by getting rid of them, your endocrine system will be able to heal itself and restore the hormone balance so that you can start to lose unwanted weight.
The diet consists of 3 steps: Remove, Restore and Re-balance. The first step requires you to remove all harmful household cleaners and foods that contain toxins or harmful food additives. The second step helps you to restore proper nutrients to your diet, so that your body can begin the healing process. And the third step teaches you how often you should eat, how much and what type of foods you should eat.
The plan allows you to eat from 10 different food groups including: legumes, alliums, berries, meats and eggs, colorful fruits and vegetables, cruciferous vegetables, green leafy vegetables, nuts and seeds, low-fat dairy and whole grains. She encourages you to buy organic whenever possible, especially your meats, eggs and dairy, as you want to avoid as many chemicals and toxins as possible.

Even though you eliminate a lot of foods from your diet, you are still able to consume a wide variety of foods including meats, dairy and eggs.
You are encouraged to engage in cardio and strength training exercises to help you build muscles so that you can burn even more fat. The Master Your Metabolism diet will not only help you to lose weight and feel better, but it can also help you to reduce your risk of serious diseases such as heart disease, diabetes and cancer.
The diet is a low calorie diet which averages around 1200 to 1300 calories a day. This may not be suitable for everyone, especially with the amount of exercising that is involved.
The diet also requires that you remove all your regular household cleaners and replace them with organic, or non-toxic cleaners, which may be more expensive to purchase. All beauty and skin care products that contain toxins should also be removed and replaced with natural products, as your skin is a major organ that absorbs toxins into your bloodstream.
The Master Your Metabolism diet is a great diet to help your body get back into shape and learn to depend on more natural foods. It teaches you to eat more consciously so that you can lose weight and keep it off in the long run. If you are on certain medications, such as antidepressants, antihypertensives or antiinflammatories, you should ask your doctor whether or not the diet is suitable for you. The plan recommends that you do not take these medications while on the diet.
