The Lindora Diet

The Lindora Diet

The Lindora Diet is a weight loss program that was created by Dr. Marshall Stamper. This diet originated in the 1970s, and at this point required individuals to visit specific Lindora weight loss centers in California. Recently, the Lindora Diet expanded and now offers online and phone-based diet services.

The Premise

The Lindora Diet is also commonly referred to as the Lean for Life Diet. This diet addresses the mental, physical and behavioral aspects of weight loss. To date, the Lindora Diet has helped thousands of children, men and women lose weight permanently. The Lindora Diet promises to help individuals lose 10 pounds or 10% of their body weight in only 10 weeks.

The Diet

The meal plan behind the Lindora Diet focuses on a high protein, very low carbohydrate diet that is based around the notion of ketosis. Ketosis occurs when the body begins to breakdown fat storages for energy instead of carbohydrates. According to Dr. Stamper, this will lead to long-term weight loss.

There are two Lindora diets you can chose to follow, the 10-week program or the 45-day program. Both of these programs have two phases. During the first phase, you will eat very few carbohydrates to force your body into ketosis. During the final two weeks on the diet, you will begin to adjust to more normal eating and slowly bring your body out of ketosis.

On both meal plans, individuals will eat three meals a day plus three protein-rich snacks. The website for the Lindora Diet sells a large selection of foods that are approved for the Lindora Diet.

What to Get Excited About

The Lindora Diet is a medically supervised diet that has a history of success. Additionally, this diet offers several different options from in-clinic to online programs. The website for Lindora sells a large selection of foods and products to support individuals on the Lindora diet.

Things to Consider

The Lindora Diet focuses around the concept of ketosis. According to WebMD, ketosis can cause several health problems, specifically kidney failure. Additionally, during ketosis, the body forms ketones, which can cause kidney stones, gout, nausea and bad breath.

The Lindora Diet does not address exercise. According to the Mayo Clinic, the most effective way to lose weight and maintain weight loss is by combining a healthy lower calorie diet with 30 to 60 minutes of moderate physical exercise most days of the week.

Finally, the Lindora diet is extremely expensive. The clinic-based programs have an introductory fee that can skyrocket as high as $1000. The online 10-week program introductory fee is $99, while the 6-week program introductory fee is $79. Phone coaching ranges from $78 dollars for three sessions to $245 for 10 sessions. In addition to the upfront charge, dieters are recommended to purchase the weight loss starter kit, which costs an additional $39.95

Verdict

If you are willing to pay the cost of the Lindora Diet and you have experienced success with low carbohydrate diets in the past, then the Lindora Diet may help you lose weight. Low carbohydrate diets are not for everyone, and unfortunately it does not appear that the Lindora diet comes with a refund or money back guarantee.

Hi: Just wanted you to know that I bought the lean for life book in about 1993. I followed the program as laid out in the book and dropped 33 pounds in 4 months or so. The only exercise I did was walk on my treadmill. Life got in the way and eventually I later gained the weight back. Recently I decided to get it together again so I pulled out my old book and started the Lean for life process again. It has been 5 months and I have now dropped 45 pounds. I am pleased to see it is still working for me. I am disappointed that they now have split the book into 3 different books and charge around the same price for each as they used to charge for the whole program in one book. I don’t buy their bars as I have discovered the PURE PRORIEN bars are a better combination of protien and carbs than theirs. (less expensive too available at walmart) I didn’t have to pay for online coaching, any specific foods, or any start up fees. This program just really works for me as long as I stick to it. (PS – I’m 60 and have had knee-joint replacement last year) Thanks for your review.

I don’t know what you used for your review but in the lindora books they stress walking at least 10,000 steps a day and are very exercise and water oriented. Drinking plenty of water helps to avoid the kidney damage that dehydration and ketosis can cause. Although there are still some risks with ketosis the authors of lindora stress ways to cut down on those risks.
