The Joel Fuhrman Diet, also known as the Eat to Live Diet, is designed to help dieters lose weight fast. The Joel Fuhrman Diet promises up to 20 pounds of weight loss in as little as six weeks.

The Premise

Recommended foods include tomatoes, eggplant, avocado, mushrooms and green vegetables. Dieters are strictly advised to avoid fruit juice, sugar, and refined carbohydrates, such as white flour breads and pastas.

The Joel Fuhrman Diet is primarily designed to help the ill recover from sicknesses related to weight gain and obesity, so it doesn't exactly advocate strenuous physical exercise for all. However, Fuhrman does clarify the importance of regular exercise to good health and encourages dieters to exercise to the best of their ability.
