Michael Thurmond created the Six Week Body Makeover that is designed to create a customized approach to weight-loss and body sculpting based on your own personal body type and metabolism. Because of Thurmond’s own experience with emotional eating and his battle with weight, the core of this plan hinges on what he believes is the connection between the mind and body. Thurmond is most well-known for his success with exercise videos and even body building workouts.

The Premise: Thurmond has created a six week weight-loss program that helps you discover what foods will boost your metabolism and what foods will slow it down. You utilize a customized package that includes:

  • eating plans
  • body sculpting exercises
  • menu cards
  • motivational videos

The Six Week Body Makeover program promises to not only help you loose weight, but reshape your body into the figure you’ve always wanted. In fact, the program boasts, “eat more, exercise less, and lose weight!”

The Diet:  The Six Week Body Makeover is a 4-step plan:

  1. Identify what kind of metabolism you have from a thorough questionnaire that comes in the plan kit. Then use that information and the kit guide to reprogram you body into a fat burner by eating the specific foods that will work with your metabolism.
  2. Eat a majority of the foods your plan determines are fat-burners for your metabolism, and consume less of the foods that are weight-gaining foods.
  3. Use the plan kit to help you determine your specific body type and detect your problem weight-gain areas. This will help you sculpt your body into the shape you want.
  4. Learn creative, helpful tips to keep the weight off long-term.

What to get excited about: This plan boasts that dieters can lose up to 30 lbs. in just 6 weeks, and there are no pills, special drinks, customized food packages, or special pre-prepared meals that you are required to buy in order to succeed. The program gives you a lot of basic, helpful diet tips that you’ll find useful long-term. In addition, the starter kit for the plan comes with many features to help you get started and succeed. Part of the plan also features a 6–Day Body Makeover program that is designed to help you drop a quick clothing size for special occasions.

Things to consider: Although the program boasts large benefits, there are no studies that prove the customized questionnaire will accurately predict your metabolism type or what foods can increase or decrease your metabolism. You will receive a starter kit with a large variety of feature items to aid you with your customized weight loss program, but it is a pretty expensive kit at about $120.

The Verdict: This is not one of the more simple plans on the market, as it requires you to use a substantial amount of personal time to figure out the best customized version of the dietary suggestions, as well as the most beneficial body sculpting exercises for your determined problem areas. There is a lot of room for “user error,” and except for some online forums, you have limited, if any, personal contact for help and motivation. For the money, this program should have a more established track record to truly be enticing.

    The plan is not easy to follow by any means, but it definitely DOES require you to conserve calories. The plan is so detailed, that if the food is not on list of things to eat, you aren’t to have it for the first six weeks. There are healthy whole grains (oatmeal, rice, yams, etc. this is also where your type comes in, as to how much carbs you should have based on if u are somewhat insulin resistant. Most meals have at least 1 serving of carbohydrates), proteins (your type comes into play her as well whether you should have ONLY lean or if your body needs some xtra fat with your protein), and low glycemic fruits, There is a different plan for men and women, slightly more carbs and protein.

    In reality, the plans in this program are nothing short of a healthy diet one SHOULD do if they are looking to cut fats, salt, and to lower their glycemic load, while eating small meals every 2 1/2-3 hrs to keep the body fueled.
