Michael Thurmond: Six Week Body Makeover: 5 Snack Ideas

Michael Thurmond’s Six Week Body Makeover is a high protein, low carbohydrate plan that advises different types and amounts of carbohydrates based on your body type. Here are snack ideas recommended for the 5 different body types.

1. Snack for Body Type A

Body Type A is an endomorph. An endomorph’s body resembles a circle. If you are an endomorph, you may be more overweight than people with other body types and more sensitive to the simple carbohydrates found in sugar and processed grains. In addition, you are vulnerable to weight gain from fruits that have high sugar content, such as bananas and pineapples. You quickly store extra energy from sugar as fat in your body. An ideal snack is 3 oz. of fresh grilled tuna (you may substitute low sodium canned tuna) or 2 oz. chicken breast with a cup of greens and a simple vinaigrette.

2. Snack for Body Type B

Body Type B is an endo-meso. If you are a dieter with an endo-meso body type, you tend to store fat in your stomach, thighs, hips, and buttocks and resemble an upside-down triangle. You have a slow metabolism and must eat the correct types of protein and carbohydrates to lose weight. A recommended snack is 3 oz baked turkey breast with a cup of greens and a simple vinaigrette.

3. Snack for Body Type C

Body Type C is meso-endo. If you are a meso-endo dieter, your shoulders and hips are approximately the same width, creating a rectangular appearance. You can eat more calories than other dieters. An appropriate snack is 3 oz. turkey breast with a cup of gazpacho, a cold tomato-cucumber soup. To make gazpacho, blend tomatoes and a cucumber with onion and bell pepper. Blend in 1 tbsp. each of vinegar, lemon juice, garlic, dried oregano, fresh cilantro, basil and parsley to taste. Chill before serving.

4. Snack for Body Type D

Body Type D is endo-ecto. As an endo-ecto individual, you have an oval appearance with a generous chest and narrow shoulders and legs.  You tend to have less muscle mass to start with and must eat to both protect the muscle you have and to gain more. Weight training is essential to preserve and build muscle mass. You may snack on 3 oz. lean beef or chicken breast with a cup of summer squash medley. To make a summer squash medley, sauté sliced zucchini and yellow squash with garlic and onion.

5. Snack for Body Type E

Body Type E is ecto-endo. As an ecto-endo individual, you have a skinny frame hidden underneath body fat and resemble a tube. You can eat more carbohydrates than dieters of other body types, but you must be careful to pair carbohydrates with protein to slow digestion. A recommended snack is 3 oz lean beef with 1 to 2 cups of ratatouille, a simple eggplant and tomato dish. To make ratatouille, sauté chopped up eggplant, tomatoes, bell peppers, onion and garlic. Season with black pepper.
