The Idiot Proof Diet claims to be flexible and easy to fit into your existing daily life. This diet eliminates refined sugars, pasta, rice, potatoes and bread, and requires a minimum of 20 minutes of exercise per day. Here are the pros and cons of the Idiot Proof Diet.

1) Pro: Aspects of Weight Loss

Weight loss isn’t just about eating a healthy diet and exercising regularly. In order to do these things, dieters must face and come to terms with any feelings about food or psychological issues surrounding food. The Idiot Proof Diet motivates dieters with the authors’ candid account of how they coped with their own feelings about food and changed their own relationships with food. The Idiot Proof Diet encourages dieters to make a list of the reasons why they want to lose weight, and provides motivational incentives as a means of emotional support. A free online support forum offers dieters a community that they can turn to for help and support.

2) Pro: Easy to Follow

The Idiot Proof Diet is easy to follow because it doesn’t require calorie counting. Recommended foods are easy to find and inexpensive to purchase.

3) Con: High Protein Diet Risks

The Idiot Proof Diet is a high protein diet, and these diets carry certain risks. High protein diets often aren’t nutritionally balanced, and the Idiot Proof Diet is no exception. The authors recommend a number of nutritional supplements to prevent nutritional deficiency in dieters. 

High protein diets can ultimately raise your risk of heart disease, diabetes and cancer, since they typically rely on high fat animal foods. The Idiot Proof Diet doesn’t contain a lot of fiber, so you’re likely to experience constipation on this diet. 

4) Con: Appropriate?

In their book, the authors present an Idiot Proof Diet that requires a two week induction phase. However, in real life, the authors remained in this induction phase for six months. As a result, dieters may not experience the same results that the authors did.
