Stress is simply the body’s way of reacting to an overwhelming situation. Perhaps you are afraid of what others may think of you, and as a result you become stressed. Not having the right body, clothes or the right job can be a major contributor to stress.
Stress can also occur if your workload is too high and you have important deadlines meet, or perhaps you are in danger of some sort where your life depends on your next action. In these situations, stress can actually be a benefit to you as it helps you to be more alert so that you can get your work done, or make the right decision. However, prolonged stress can have negative effects on the overall health of your body, and therefore you should try and reduce your stress whenever possible.
Unhealthy eating habits can cause your body to become malnourished over time. This is due to the fact that junk foods do not contain essential vitamins or other nutrients that your body and mind need to function properly. Your body needs certain nutrients such as serotonin, tryptophan and endorphins so that you can remain calm in tough situations.
These nutrients that your body needs can be found in foods such as raw chocolate, avocados, bananas, mangoes, flax seeds, whey protein powder, turkey and fish. If you fail to provide your body with these important nutrients you will soon find yourself becoming more and more stressed, especially when you encounter tough situations as mentioned above.
Toxins are another way that unhealthy eating can contribute to stress. Not eating enough fruits and vegetables can cause harmful toxins to build up in your body. Your body will wrap these toxins up in fat cells to prevent them from harming the body. This can cause you to gain weight, and as a result you become even more stressed. Not only do you now have to find a way to stop gaining weight, but you also have to find a way to lose the pounds that you gained. For many this can turn into a vicious cycle, as stress contributes to unhealthy eating, and unhealthy eating contributes to stress.
Binging is another form of unhealthy eating that can contribute to a tremendous amount of stress. Those who are affected by this tend to overeat whenever they feel a situation is out of their control. The food helps them to find relief for a few moments. However, in the end they are stressed even more, as now they feel guilty and ashamed for their actions.
