Why Make a Watermelon Face Mask?

One of the primary reasons that your face develops fine lines and wrinkles is due to the fact that you do not have the proper amount of fluid in your body. As the name suggests, watermelons not only contain high amounts of water which your face needs to stay nourished, hydrated, and free from fine lines and wrinkles, but also contains many vitamins and minerals which have been found to fight the signs of aging.
Choosing the Ingredients
A typical watermelon face mask includes a variety of ingredients, including, of course, watermelon, along with avocado and Vaseline. Start by heading to the produce section of your local grocery, and choose a small watermelon that appears to be ripe and free from blemishes. Once home, clean the watermelon and cut it into one-inch cubes. Place one cup of cubed watermelon along with half of an avocado and a few tablespoons of Vaseline into a clean blender and mix until thoroughly combined. Remove the mixture from the blender and place in a clean bowl. Allow the face mask to sit for at least an hour so all of the ingredients can thoroughly mix with each other.
Putting the Mask On
Before putting the watermelon face mask on, it is important to thoroughly clean your face. Start by removing all makeup with an alcohol-free makeup remover. Next, wet your face with water that is as hot as you can tolerate. Hot water allows the pores in your face to open–and this will allow more of the face mask to actually enter the pores in your face, improving their tone and texture. Rub a small amount of gentle soap into your face, removing all makeup remnants along with any dirt or oil, and then rinse again with hot water. Use a clean, dry towel to remove the water from your face. Once the face has been cleaned, use a clean makeup brush or your fingers to carefully apply the watermelon face mask. Be sure to apply a thin layer of the mask over all surfaces of your face. Leave the face mask on for at least ten minutes while you lay down on a flat surface and rest. After the ten minutes have passed, carefully wash the face mask off your face, being carefully not to get any of it into your eyes. If there is any of the watermelon face mask remaining, place it is a clean airtight container. It will store safely in the refrigerator for two weeks before needing to be discarded.
