There are many free weight loss diet plans available online if you are looking to save some money, yet still lose weight. Most successful diet plans do not require you to pay any membership fees or buy any special brands of foods, but rather they require you to change the way you think about eating and working out. By learning to eat the correct foods, prepare them in a healthy manner and properly manage your portion size, you can be successful with any diet you choose.
Study the Food Pyramid
First, begin by searching online for the Food Pyramid guidelines created by the U.S. Department of Agriculture to study what constitutes a healthy, well-balanced meal. You should be able to find plenty of information about cutting your caloric intake and ways in which you can do that.
Determine Daily Calorie Intake
Determine what your daily caloric intake should be. There are many online calculators that you can use to determine how many calories you need to eat daily to maintain your current weight. To lose weight, you will want to trim 300 to 500 calories off that amount daily.
Develop Meal Plans
Search for meal plans that follow the recommended calories calculated in Step 2, rounded to the nearest 100. For example, if you calculated that you need to be eating 1923 calories daily to lose weight, round that to 1900 calories and search for “1900 calorie meal plan” online. Look at several different meal plans, and get an idea of what foods you should be eating to have a balanced diet (as well as how many calories different foods contain).
SUse the meal plans that you find to build a menu for your first week. Build your food menus on a weekly basis for the entire week so that you are prepared and have food for three meals a day (and three snacks a day). This way you are not left hungry and tempted to go off your diet. Once you are halfway through the first week, begin looking for some ideas for the following week so that you are prepared when the time comes, and you can shop and plan accordingly. Variation is key to staying motivated on your diet, so be on the lookout for new recipes that fit into your acceptable calorie limit.
Combine exercise into your daily activities. You should do some form of physical activity 5 days a week. Mix it up and combine some outdoor activities like walking, biking and hiking with strength training to get a full body workout.
By taking responsibility for your own diet plan and fitness routine, you can have great results. You will learn more about proper nutrition than if you have someone create a plan for you. You will control the food choices and menu planning, helping you to be prepared to do all of this on your own (and actually change your eating habits instead of just being on a diet). Get searching, and create a free plan that works for you to begin losing weight.
