Weightloss since 2/14: 22.4

Well, how is everyone doing? I have kind of gotten off track with focusing on my 7 keys. I am going to get my book back out and see if I can get back on track. It has been really quiet around here. I've heard from Jen and Katy this past week, I hope everyone else is doing ok. Just remember, we're going to fall sometimes, but this time we just have to get up, dust ourselves off and get going again. With my new schedule I haven't been able to exercise like I had planned, but I am making the decision to commit to just 30 minutes 5 days. I can do that!

I can't wait to hear from everyone and see how you are doing!!!

Hi all - I want to join, but I am just starting ---
how will that work?
I am realy excited about this program, this morning I had a smoothie and coffee for breafast and my hubby and son are going for a hike in a local gardens (sundays are my no gym days)... I looked at the oprah .com web site. I think that the no eating after 7.30 will be hard for me, but I need something - since DH has returned from over seas I have gained 10 pounds!! and now we are living in fort. benning ga and i don't know ANYONE here - I have no friends (read: no work-out buddies) any way.... what has been ya'lls hardest thing?

WELCOME Krista! I think you can just jump right in where we are. If you'd like to go for the first month of no grains, just start now. I'm sure after this we'll do some other challenge so even though we are a few weeks ahead when this ends you won't be left without support. I have added your name to the list, so next week we can add in your loss too!

I know how it goes to be away from people you know. I really don't have many friends here. We live on my husband's parent's farm. I am only about 2 hours away from my best friend and I have a met a few neighbors. Only one is my age though, the rest are much older. Where is your family from originally?

I have a bit of trouble with no eating after 7:30, so I set my time to 8. We often don't eat until 7 ot 7:30 b/c after his normal job DH goes and feeds heiffers for his dad.

My biggest struggle is exercise! I have been doing great on not eating refined carbs, it's the exercise I am having so much trouble with. Just this past week I started babaysitting two children so in addition to mine I have four. It has made exercise very difficult. So I am going to focus on just 5 days.

Well I'm off to see if I can sell some of my little clay creations on ebay and make some pocket money, wish me luck!

Morning all. I'm at work, the only reason I'd be up at 3am in the morning. I've been working more nights lately and they take a lot out of me. anyway I think I've been doing okay with my eating, not following it 100% but not an all out binge. I didn't do much in the way of exercise last week, only went one day but I'm going to do better this week. I don't know if I will go tomorrow er rather today seeing as it is Monday now but I'm sure I"ll get there the rest of the week. I was supposed to work some 8 hours days this week but I'm going to get out of them so I'll have a couple of days off in a row during the week which is not usual. Can't figure out when I'll weigh in, maybe when I get up after I have a sleep or I might wait until Tuesday morning.

Anyway I hope we see more people posting with this. hey all you that have been here the past couple of weeks...I'm not following this plan 100% so don't feel like you can't post because you've fallen off the wagon. I keep plugging away at it and eventually it will take.

Good Morning!

Jen-Bless you and your ability to work nights! I don't think I could do it! It's 6:07 am here and I am contemplating sleeping in my rocking chair once the kids get here and fall back to sleep.

I think Jen is completley right! I haven't followed 100% either, so don't feel like you can't post b/c you've slipped up. We're human!

I had a two pound loss this week. I am very pleased. I would have liked to take the first weight my scale gave me this morning...182.5. But something tells me I didn't lose 13.5 pounds in a week without exercising. That's the problem with bathroom scales and an old house. Move the scale just a mere two inches and you gain 10 pounds LOL! I try to get it in the same spot everytime but I didn't realize just two inches or so can make such a difference.

Well I better make sure everything is in order before my kiddos get here. I haven't even thought of a craft or project to do today.

yesterday i went to the gym and got 25 min in before they closed.
Today I have had a mushroom omlet and coffee with creamer
I was planning on going to the gym, but blew it off at 6.30 am - big suprise, I HATE excersizing in the morning and I was in the army so i have done it and I KNOW. I like excersizing in the afternoon, but they say it is not as good if you do it in the afternoon - who knows! I do know that some excersize is better than NO excersize!

Misty - I don't know how you do day care - I have a 5 year old and I think I can only handle him sometimes!! :P God bless you!
Jen, what do you do that you work nights?
As far as following the plan 100% I know I won't be able to do Oprahs plan like that, if I could do 1 month of no carbs, well, I would have done South Beach a long time ago! I do like a lot of the rest of her philosophy though and her own story is so motivational!
Any way I have to get running!!
Good luck everyone!!

Krista - I am a registered nurse and work at a hospital. Nights haven't been a regular thing for me in a few years so it is taking some time to get used to them again.

Misty - do you put your scale in the bathroom? If possible why don't you put down a few pieces of masking tape on the floor where the scale is supposed to go that way you can line it up perfectly all the time. I had the same problem with an old scale and weird floors so I can relate. I always lined it up with a tile seam.

I had a few hours catnapping on the couch and I"m just off to take my son to daycare and then back for more sleep. See you later!

Hey there, just surfing here and seeing if I can find a project I can print out online for teh kids to do today. SO I thought I'd check in and see what's going on.

Krista-some exercise IS better than none in my opinion, I'm not an expert but I think you are right about that. Daycare is a breeze for me, it's a challenge at times but I have been watching and working with kids since I was 13 so it's second nature. Plus I have 6 siblings so it was built right into family life.

Jen-I love the tape idea! Why didn't I think of that? I went and bought a digital scale in September b/c my old one was weighing me up to 20 pounds different without moving it. I'll hunt up some tape today!

Well foudn some worksheets I can print out the four year old will like those. Have a good day all!

Hey all. You won't believe but I'm still awake and not really that tired. I had some snooze time on the couch while Drake watched cartoons and then after I took him to daycare I had to get gas for the car and by then I just wasn't even that tired anymore. So I've got myself a coffee and I"m just going to stay up. I'll probably sleep like the dead tonight and probably be tired tomorrow but I'm not really working, I have to go to work for some education thing but it'll just be sitting down for 8 hours which will probably be more tiring than actually working.

Krista - I agree with Misty that it is better to get out and get some exercise whenever you can than to not exercise at all. Apparently exercising in the morning is suppose to be the best as it revs your metabolism for the whole day and is a better fat burner but still if you can't get to it until afternoon or evening it is better than parking your bum on the couch in front of the tv with a pint of ice cream!

Misty - there is a really good web site www.abcteach.com that has a lot of good stuff for kids. Also I happened to see recently at a local dollar store some books that are preschool type stuff, practicing printing and other stuff, only a buck, you can't lose with that.

Well haven't really decided what to do with myself for the rest of the day. I haven't really eaten today so I might throw together something to eat now and go to the gym about an hour or so after that. I probably won't do more than just cardio, if that doesn't kill me with not sleeping much in the past 24 hours. I'm going to weigh in tomorrow. I think I might have done myself in with poor eating over the weekend but we'll see.

Misty - just wanted to add that I got an amazing craft book from the library awhile back called Preschool Art by MaryAnne Kohl (not sure if I have spelled her name right). It is a great book for craft ideas for up to 6 year old kids. Nothing that would require a lot of things to buy, just stuff around the house you probably already have. She's got other books for doing papermache and stuff with clay as well.

Good morning!

Well yesterday was a horrendous eating day for me! I won't even tell you what I ate, it was BAD! But I decided that I can do better and I will!!!!

The 2 year old boy I watch bit my son's nose and made it bleed yesterday! I turned my back long enough to help the 4 year old write her name and my son was screaming. Poor little baby! Then AJ raps the baby in the head with a toy. He had a very rough day yesterday. This 2 year old boy is where my daughter was about 6-12 months ago. He's a very sweet little bot, but he's rough. He knows he's not supposed to do it b/c he only does it when I'm not looking!! I guess he's in that phase "just do something and see what happens". I'm sure it will get better. Today his sister stayed home with thier dad so I have just him, maybe some one on one with him while mine are content will help.

We have to make a trip to Rochester tonight for a viewing. A friend of my husband's died of cancer Sunday. He was only 31 or so. We can't get time off for the funeral, but would like to see his family, so we'll fly up and back tonight. It's two hours one way, we're leaving here at 4. It will be a late night, but tomarrow will be an even earlier morning.

Jen-thanks for the tips!! I looked at a preschool book at walmart but it was $7 and I had already spent prbably $75-$100 on stuff like a step stool and booster seats and a trike (two just wasn't cutting it with 3 kids). I'll have to check out the dollar store. I have stuff from when I did preschool speech therapy, but it's burried in my junk room. I have no ambition to drag it out right now. I'm going to check out that website as soon as I have a free hand...Ben has been wiggling in my lap while I type this one handed LOL

well have a great day all!

Morning all. quick post as I have to work today for a few hours this morning. I'm hoping I'll only be there til early afternoon and then get off a bit early. I'm still tired from working nights on Sunday. I didn't end up getting any sleep yesterday other than what I got on the couch before I took my son to daycare. After that I was so awake and feeling okay that I decided to stay up. I even went to the gym, did cardio and some weight machines. This morning I feel wiped out though because I still missing some sleep. Last night I slept like I was in a coma, I don't remember anything from the time I went to sleep until this morning. I usually wake up once or twice and just roll over and go back to sleep. I weighed in this morning and I"m up a bit from my lowest from last week but I'm still down a lbs from last week. So I"m losing slowly but surely. Eventually once I get this way of eating down and have a bit more regular work schedule so I can get to the gym I'll probably lose a bit more each week. Anyway I've got to grab some breakfast and I"m off. Take care all.

Misty - I'm so sorry about your son's nose being bitten. I don't know if I'd let the kid off that easy! Just because you're not looking isn't an excuse to see what you can get away with. I know the kid is only 2 but still! I've got a 3 1/2 year old and he didn't even try stuff like that because he knew he'd be in for a time out or having some privledge taken away if he did.

Misty, that is so great that you have clothes that are too big!! I'm finding some of my clothes are feeling a big loose, not because I have lost huge amounts of weight but I've been working out consistently so I figure some areas are starting to be a bit toned. I've not been eating according to plan very much lately so today I am back on track. I didn't get to the gym yesterday because I was at work all day for orientation to a new area and actually left early because I was so tired. Just that night shift catching up with me. I thought about going to the gym after I got home but then decided I wouldn't make it through a workout. Well I'll get back today. Have a great day everyone. See you later.
