Default Dr. Phil's UWL cookbook?

Does anyone here have Dr Phil's "Ultimate Weight Loss Cookbook"? Do you like it and use it or does it just sit there collecting dust?

I have the 7 keys book and the Food Guide book and was thinking of getting the Cookbook as well.

I don't have it, but I plan on getting a copy and trying it out. He seems to have some good southern style recipes that I'd like to try before Christmas dinner, like sweet potato pie and oven fried chicken. The oven fried chicken is supposed to be made with Grape-Nuts. That sounds interesting!

I think I"m going to get it as well as I am such a terrible planner of meals particularly dinner and I end up getting fast food or something that I can up really quick. Also thinking of getting this 30 minute meals book by Rachael Ray (she's on the Food Network) because I hate taking ages to cook meals.

My DH got it for me for Christmas. I just started his Rapid Start Plan yesterday which lasts for 2 weeks. When that is up I am going to be cooking from the book, there are so many yummy looking recipes that I want to try.

Michelle, the rapid start program really works and I hope you can stick with it. I did it back last May and even though I only stuck with it about 75% of the time I still lost 6 lbs over 14 days which is a real accomplishment for me. It is so hard to cut out the carbs though, evil little things that they are :lol

I've just ordered the book on-line so I'm looking forward to trying out some the recipes.

I have got the book, haven't tried anything in it yet but there are many recipies that I think I would like and that dh would like as well. One recipe calls for fat free whole wheat tortilla wraps but I haven't seen these at any of my local grocery stores. Anyone seen these before?

I have a question for you. Do the recipes list how many breads/fats/dairy/protein, etc. for each serving?

I like it when that's done for me and I can just check it off on my paper.

Thanks!

I have the book but not crazy about it. I am sticking with the WW cookbooks. But...if anyone wants it's yours for free, just let me know.

HI granijani, the recipes have nutrient analysis ie calories, fat, carb, protien etc but also each recipe says something like : each serving counts as 1 protien, or another says: each serving counts as 1 protien, 1nonstarch vegetable and 1 starch carbohydrate.
hope this helps

I have the UWL cookbook and have been using it as a primary source of food ideas while i am on the rapid start plan. I love some of the recipes- the bran muffins and apricot glazed chicken, and have found a few that I do not care for- because of a spice used that I didnt like. So far though, the goods are most and I thnk I have only found 1 thing I would probably not make again. It was an expensive shopping trip though! I needed to get a lot of new spices and cooking things that are needed in the book. What I did was pick out 3 protein meals, a couple breakfast ideas and snacks for the whole week and went through each recipe to see what i needed to buy.
The rapid start isnt so bad at all and I have been tracking my food intake on the fridge also, so i think its going quite well. I have lost about 6 lbs in the first week. Good luck! There are also some recipes located on the Dr Phil website and forums just for exchanging recipes.

Hi, congratulations on your weight loss. I just got the book, yesterday, and look forward to using it. Is there an active discussion of folks using the seven keys on these forums? I'd really like to find others. Take care.

I have it but find it problematical as I'm not in the US and can't get some of the items.
