Excuse me, may I break in and ask a question?

Dr. Oz recommends soy. However, there are reasons women are cutting soy out of their diet now. Apparently it is bad for women's health (breast cancer, etc.). Have you incorporated more into your eating regimen with this plan, do the same as before, or just keep it omitted?

Geez, eating can be confusing.

I for one havent try anything other than Soy milk, which I really like in my smoothies and on my oatmeal. I am to afraid to try tofu and other soy related things. I havent heard about women not wanting to eat soy, I thought it was supposed to be good for you.

Thanks for the welcome everyone,,,I do love this way of eating. Yesterday I had to work out of town and was concerned about the lunch that would be served. Turned out we had a spinach salad with no dressing on the buffet , cold meats including turkey breast, cheese. veggies , pickles and fruit. I was able to stay on plan no problem. I had brought my own yogurt and nuts but didnt need them...I was a tiny bit tempted by a big old muffin but i grabbed a water instead and drank it...stayed away from the browies. Stuck to the salad, veggies and fruit..yeah!
I keep seeing people saying no HFCS> (i think thats the intials..what am i missing?

HI, That HFCS is suppose to be some bad stuff. I googled it and now completely stay away from it. I find this change of lifestyle really quite easy to stick to. I like the soy milk too. I googled that also. Most reports are good about soy.

I mixed it half and half like they recommend--no one could tell the difference! Next I'll be trying it in a Bechamel sauce, in a dip, and mixing it with my full-fat salad dressing to see what the results are. You can use it to halve the fat in baking cookies and cake, though.
Hi, I thought I read the book very well. I don't remember any mention of a Z trim. I also have the audio and listened again and didn't hear about this. I lent the book to a friend. Can someone reference the page or on the website for me please?

Hi, can I join you? I got this book last week and have been reading it every night. I love it! I had such a problem with eating everything in sight when I came home from work. Now I grab a handful on nuts and a little dried fruit and I am okay until dinner. I think it is because I changed everything I eat and that helps me not be so ravenous at 4pm. I love how they describe how your body processes food because now when I see something sweet or loaded with trans-fat, I am not tempted because I don't want it to cause inflammation in my intestines - its funny how diagrams can change your way of thinking.

Sharon, I don't have the book in front of me but Z-trim was mentioned in a small shaded portion of the page on fats. The wasn't a lot said except that there isn't long term data to study the effects of it and the doctors thought that it was a good product to use.

In yesterday's Buffalo News, they had an article on Dr. Roizen, he is originally from Buffalo. http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial...30/2045164.asp

Thanks Sharon. Perhaps I got the message mixed because the You on a Diet book is touted on the Z Trim website. Maybe it just has to do with the book's stance on reducing fat as part of the whole thing. Anyway, I appreciate the information!!!!

Welcome Rose - another NY gal - I'm in Albany!

How is everyone doing with the program? I agree - it is pretty easy to stick to once you get your house cleaned out of non-compliant foods. I'm still a bit wary about eating out, but luckily I don't do it very often.

Is any one interested in sharing recipes? I love to cook and am always looking for new stuff to try. You'll see I started a thread asking for SuperBowl ideas for Sunday. Maybe I"ll start a seperate thread for recipes as well.

Just got back from a quick lunch-time run to the grocery store, and I"m so excited - I found the whole wheat pizza crusts! I had resigned myself to the fact that my stores just didn't carry them, and then I turned the corner and there they were! Boboli brand. So, a quick trip back to the pizza sauce, which I found to be easily compliant, and the shredded mozzarella, and we'll treat ourselves to a veggie pie on Saturday - hurray!

Hi Rose, Thank you about the info on Z-trim. How is everybodies exercising going? I'm starting to do more weight lifting and really enjoying it. When my 19 y/o was home from college we went to the "Y" together. He was glad to give Mom some pointers.

Hi, I walked a mile and jogged a mile. I have to get back into weights. I walk with 2 pound weights - does that count
I just read a couple of more pages in them were about supplements. Are any of you taking niacin or vitamin B5?

About the Soy...I don't like soy milk or the such as I hate the texture of it in my mouth...to me it's gross, so I just use 1% milk like I always have been.

Also I weighed myself(yes I just can't get away from weighing at least once a week) this morning and I am down 4 lbs from last week....woohoo.

Question...I know that measuring our waist is a great thing too according to the You book....I did so but was wondering how often do we measure our waists? Is it once a week, once every 2 weeks or once a month?
