I got the book yesterday. I started the plan on Monday. I think it would be great to watch each others progress and cheer each other on to victory. I know it will be hard for me to stay of the scale for a month but I plan to do it. So far everything is going well for me.

I watched Oprah the other day and he was on the show. I got some good pointers and I like how he deals w/the emotional issues too. I'm not sure I'll buy the book. We'll see.

Hi,
I am almost done with week 2 of phase 1. I really like it. The plan is working on changing bad habits and getting you moving. I have noticed that I do not crave sugar as much. Also, it has really made me look at excercise and the lack of it. I have just ignored the product placement. Money makes the world go around. I did join up with website. I am not sure I recommend the website. It is new and they are still having problems. To be honest the only part I use is the forums to talk with other people. I am going to give the website 3 months and then decided if I want to renew. You are not supposed to step on the scale for a month. That is an impossible for me who is addicted to the scale. I have not stepped on it every day like I used to but I have lost over 4 lbs.

i got on the scale as well and after 8 days on the program I am down 6 lbs. I am going to try and stay off the scale. So far everything is going well. I think after seing people who actually lost 100 pounds or more was inspiring and made it seem doable. How's it going with everyone else.

Hi Everyone!
My book just came today!!! I'm a very physical reader so you can just imagine me curled up on the couch nodding my head at everything. This book is really reaching out to me when it comes to how I view food and the emotions that go with it.
I'm on the 1st phase and have put away my scale. I started the diet myself when I saw Bob on Oprah last week so I wanted to weigh myself once more before I put it away. I have lost 2 pounds!! The reason behind that is I...*sigh* have given up soda...all the types too. When he was on TV he said that even diet soda has sodium in it and it makes you crave the sugar that's in the artifical sweetners. When he said that I put down the soda and got my bottled water and haven't looked back. I drink almost a gallon of water a day now and actually am happy about it. Now instead of reaching for a potato chip or a piece of chocolate, I have my bottled water to keep me occupied.
Also I started to go to bed early and not eating past 8:00 (can't seem to do the 7:30). I'm trying to get more active and stick with it this time. Normally I go a week and then never go again.
For some reason this has motivated me to do well. Maybe it's the website, maybe it's fact that Oprah should be President I don't know. All I know is I'm getting happy with my life again.
We'll see how the rest of the phases go-I'm super excited!

Hello all, I am still anxiously awaiting the arrival of my book! I did get alot of info from thebestlife website and am putting it to work while I wait, but I am so badly wanting to read the book! I read one of his other books, I think it was make the connection and his words really hit where it counts, now if I can only keep it going this time!
Chrissie~Your excitement is contagious!! Hopefully soon I'll be sitting on the couch too, nodding and saying "OH, yeah that's me!" too. My biggest trouble spot is going to be the water, I am SO BAD at remembering to drink water! I am going to work hard to up my water intake and I am sure that I will feel better for it!
Mercee~Keep it up! We can all do this if we just keep the right mind-set!
Have a great day!

Hi all I've been hopping from diet to diet looking for something that works and that I can stick to my latest was Dr. Ian's fat smash diet I couldn't give up the meat at all. Does Bob Greene have you elimante anything like meat or dairy I know there's different phases. I'm not looking for the diet for free just wanted to know some stuff to see if the book's worth buying.

No, you don't have to give up meat or anything else. The phases are not designed around specific food choices, but around habits. You will be encouraged to make better choices, such as paying attention to portion sizes, or choosing whole grains when possible, but there are no forbidden food lists. You can have your dairy, but he will suggest you replace full fat dairy with low fat or fat free versions.

Well I ended up getting the book and so far I really really like it. I think it's a great idea to actually approach weight loss as steps I'm going to do phase 1 and work on some better eating habits. The only difficult thing for me is I always want instant results but now I think that is also why I keep failing. Also Bob Greene is doing a book sighning Monday in Las Vegas where I live I'm considering going to it. I've never done something like that. I'm wondering how many people are going to show.

Well, my book arrived 1/24 in the late afternoon and I parked myself on the couch to read through Oprah's forward and through phase 1. Looked over the meal plans and recipes. It all looks very doable! Baby steps, that is what I need and I think that following Bob's plan could be the final diet book that I purchase, ever! I officially started phase 1 on 1/25, keeping a journal to keep myself honest. I have been doing well with the water intake, I started on 1/24 to be sure to get atleast 6 glasses of plain water in addition to coffee and tea. That has not been easy for me, but 3 days in a row I have done it and I am proud of me!
I have always known that I was a stress eater, as well as an~I'm bored, happy, sad, lonely and whatever eater, the problem for me is that I do not take a minute to stop and think "WHY am I grabbing this ice cream or candy bar" I am going to work hard to stop and think before I eat. Sometimes I should stop and think before I speak too, but that is a whole~nother issue!
2muchbackend~Let us know if you went to the book signing and how it was!
Kim~I always start a plan all gung-ho on making the changes, but then get overwhelmed with everything that I have to do all at once. I think that doing the phases where I make the changes gradually and add to them as I go will be much easier and less overwhelming to follow. I am pretty excited about this approach and I think that with a little support from each other, we can all do this!
Have a great day!
Darcy

I find myself in a bit of a dilemma (sp?). I bought the YOU diet with the expressed intent on it being the last diet book of any sorts I ever buy. I am haveing a hard time "getting with it". Its a great book, makes lots of sense, but I guess there is not enough structure to it for me. So I started looking at this plan. I really...really...really...do not want to flop down anymore money for yet another diet plan only to see it fail. But I am desparate now. Desparate because I am tired all the time, can't function how I like to function. I have been watching this thread carefully to see how others like the diet and may go buy the book, take the plunge. I have been doing phase one since seeing bob on the oprah show that introduced the book. I have not stuck to it very well I think it is because I am missing much needed support.
so...Can I join you guys?
Thanks for reading...

Hi All
I've been in and out of 3FC for quite some time now and rest assured, when I vanish, things are not going well with eating and exercising! I suppose I need to learn to stay regardless and look to all of you and your successes to re-motivate me!
I am currently reading Bob's book and the YOU diet simultaneously. I think that both have similar points and theories, and too much information in this circumstance, for me, is not a bad thing. I've been spending a lot of time on FoodNetwork.com as well, searching for new healthy recipes and have been rather successful in that (This coming from the girl who hates to cook! I've actually been enjoying it!). I still need to get myself moving, but it seems I always have an excuse, mostly weather related. Living in Maryland, it is currently cold, so I hate to go out and of course, in the summer when it is hot and humid, who wants to sweat? I need to get over this and move forward.
I look forward to chatting with all of you here. Would love a buddy with a lot of weight to lose, though I am trying to focus more on healthy eating than pounds (Of course, I will still weigh in!). I just need to get my focus off dieting and onto eating for health for life.
