Default ww points vs counting calories confused

Hello all,

I just started ww (2nd time around) about 2 weeks ago.

I never looked into counting calories before until today.

I calculated everything on an online calculator and it said in order for me to lose weight based on everything, my daily calorie target was 1820.

btw im 29 y/o f, 5'2, 130lbs, moderately active

and would like to lose 15-20 pounds.

WW gives me a total of 18 total daily points.

When i calculated how many calories I ate yesterday (I ate all 18 points), it showed my calorie intake to be 825 calories!

I am now confused as to why it is so low and how it reached my tdp of 18.

I must admit I am hungry a lot of the time since going back on ww, but I am just following my target daily points (I also use my 35 flex points).

I thought if you count calories, you'd be eating less calories than on the weight watchers plan, but it turns out it wants me to eat at least 1800?

I hope I made sense, I probably didn't but if anyone could make out what I'm trying to say, please clarify for me.

Thank you in advance for any comments

For your height and goal weight 1800 calories a day sounds like too much and 825 calories a day is not enough
I am a little shorter than you and my goal weight is very close to yours. I lost on 1400 calories a day and maintain on 1400 calories a day.

Maybe I calculated wrong. Where can I figure out how many calories I should eat to lose weight? thanks

If I did stick to a 1200-1400 calorie diet, my question still remains.

Why are the calories calculated by following ww point system so low?

Isn't less than 1000 too low or unhealthy?

Not sure I can completely answer your question but I can tell you that I'm 5'5" and 225 lbs and my current daily points are 26. I eat a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables to keep from feeling hungry. You might want to talk to your leader about the number of points you are getting and how to feel fuller with a small number of points, this info is part of the program that I believe they call filling foods.

Default Remember points free food also have calories

Foods like vegetables have calories although you don't have to count them on WW. And some foods result in less WW points due to fiber than you would count if you purely counted calories... so it makes since that if you counted just the calories in ALL food you eat on WW it would be higher than pts X 50. Hope this helps.

First, I think you calculated your daily points incorrectly. If you are 130 pounds, that is 13 points, female adds 2, your age adds 3, your heights adds 1 and if you are moderately active, you can add 1-2 points. That means you should eat 20-21 points.

Don't forget to add in your exercise points as well!

A point is roughly 70 calories if you add no fat or fiber or 60 calories with no fiber and 3 grams of fat. If you are adding fiber to your diet, your points values for each item drops a lot.

I think you need to review your plan with your leader. There is no WWs leader out there that will condone that few of calories. That's crazy, especially if you are active!

You can do this!
