Default Eating Out Help Needed

TURKEY BURGER
spinach, avocado, big eye
swiss cheese, tomato, “secret
sauce”, whole wheat bun

GRILLED MAHI MAHI
homemade pickles, dill tartar
sauce, napa cabbage, sesame
brioche bun

I am eating at a local restaraunt for lunch tomorrow (no on-line nutritional info). Which of the above menu items do you think would be best? I'd leave off any cheese and any sauce. How would you estimate the points?

Thanks all!

I think the mahi mahi might be the better choice. If it's grilled, it's probably a filet whereas a turkey burger might have things added to bind it together. I had some turkey sausage for breakfast and a 2.5oz had 100 calories and 5g fat. For 3oz of Mahi Mahi it's 90 calories and 1.5g of fat.

I agree that the grilled mahi mahi sandwich is definitely the way to go. Restaurants often use high fat turkey, darker meat and even the skin to create their bugers. That's why they taste so much better at restaurants than when we make them at home.

I have heard and read that sometimes a regular burger at a restaurant is even a healthier choice than the turkey burger.

What other sides are offered? I would be most worried about resisting the fries. Yummmmmmm!

You might see if you can get the Mahi Mahi on the turkey burger whole wheat bun...brioche is not the lightest of breads (3 pts per one ounce, as opposed to 2 for regular or 1 for high fiber). A roll is going to be a lot bigger than an ounce, so it could make a big difference. It's one of the most butter and egg-rich breads out there!

The fish FOR SURE!!!!
I understand that most turkey burgers and even veggie burgers are LOADED with a lot more than just fat, sodium and calories! Making your own burger is a different story! Enjoy the fish - it's healthy and sounds delish!!! Have fun!
