Default Turtle Group #142 Into August!

Hi, turtles.

First, welcome, Kathy! We're so glad you found us. I would think quilting would help keep one from mindless eating; it's something you can do with your hands. I wish I had an interest like that, but I'm all thumbs! Do you have any of your quilts posted online anywhere?

Judy, WTG losing that weight. You are such a trooper, woman. Thanks for keeping us up to date on Swania, too. I sure wish she could post again. I really miss seeing her here. Lin, too.

Bandit, WTG to you, too -- sounds like you're keeping on track.

Work has been extremely busy, and we're either going somewhere or having someone here every weekend for the foreseeable future. This weekend we're going up north to the Sleeping Bear Dunes area on Lake Michigan to stay with dear friends in their new house. I can't WAIT. We need a break in a big way.

I overate in a big way week before last and gained (no surprise). This past week I counted my points each day, though I didn't try to stay within my range. Just writing it down helped. I managed to stay within my points (while using ALL my flexpoints) for the week, and I dropped most of the weight I gained. That was encouraging.

I'm finding something that's really helping me is each day committing, before God, to writing down my points. If I just commit this to myself, I don't necessarily tend to do it. But committing it before God is another story. It has kept me on track. I have no idea why I didn't think of this sooner. I'm also getting in some exercise every day, which has been good. It'll be back up in the 90s this week, so that'll be tougher.

Hope everyone is doing well. I'll keep in touch when I can, and I'll certainly keep you all in my thoughts.

Onward and downward,

Lauren

Hi Turtles,
Lauren, thanks so much for starting a new thread. I'm clueless when it comes to stuff like that. I keep on keepin' on and have had two good days. I'm not being a martyr; I'm just trying to eat the foods I like that will help me lose weight. Thanks for calling me a trooper--ties right in with my weight loss journey! Glad to see you'r here and that you're using God to help you out. You have a strong faith and I know He wants you to be happy. You sound extremely busy and I'm grateful that you made time to post on this site.

Hey, Miata: Welcome back! I remember you from a couple of years ago. Are you the same Kathy who posted here a while ago? I remember the quilting and the quilting conferences, etc. In any case, it's great to have you here with us. We'll try to offer good suggestions while keeping OP ourselves.

Bandit, thinking about you and wishing you well. How are you doing?

Swania and Lin and Choosie, hope you're reading this and feel the :
Lin, I'd love to make a comment on your blog, but haven't figured out how. I'll look again.

Am taking care of myself today and that's always a good feeling. Swania and I have a Labor Day commitment to lose weight by eating better and exercising. Anyone want to join us?

Love,
Judy

I was wondering the same thing, Kathy. Didn't you post here a while back? In any case, it's great to have you here.

Judy, you definitely *are* a trooper. You're an anchor for me.

Yes, I'd like to join the two of you in committing to eating right and exercising. I'd like to lose 4 pounds by Labor Day. Actually, I'd like to lose about 40 pounds by Labor Day, but I'm not willing to give up any body parts ...

Broiling hot here. Today I commit to writing down what I eat and will aim at staying within my points.

Onward and DOWNWARD,

Lauren

Hi turtles!

I just got back from a week in Vegas - it was great. Didn't win any $ but had lot of fun losing it.

Ate too much & have my w/i tonight so I am a little hesitant about that, but will face the music anyway. No sense in avoiding it, but hopefully not too much damagage done.

Seen David Copperfield, Barry Manilow and went to Grand Canyon - that was really beautiful. So we had a really great trip.

Everyone sounds like they are doing great - so keep up the good work & I will check in again regularly now that I am back.

So bye for now.

Hi Turtles,
Bandit, wow do I envy you. I would love to see the Grand Canyon. I know it's magnificent and I'd love to see it in person. Glad you went to your WI. I know what it's like when I pass it over for the next week and then somehow I lose track of getting to WW's mtgs. and before I know it months have gone by without a weight loss and usually a gain. So, glad you had a great vacation and glad you're back and posting.

I've been doing well. My last WI I lost 1.2# and I've been doing well this week. It's blistering hot here--as well as where you all are. I think that's playing around a bit with a potential weight loss. Right now the scale isn't budging, but I'm hoping that I'm down a pound by this upcoming Wednesday.

You all take care. Here's a and : to us all.
Love,
Judy

Hi everyone!

At my w/i after my Vegas week I was up 4# - so was kind of bummed about that.
And last night at w/i was 1.6# so still have some to go to get back to where I was before holiday.

But am still pretty much on track so hopefully will have good w/i next week.

Have been really busy with helping dd move some things into their townhouse for next school year to going to 50th bd party for my cousin. That was last Sat night & I drank way tooo much vodka, so I was glad to be down anything at meeting.

It is still super hot up here. This is the hottest summer I can remember for a very long time.

Anyway, hope you are all doing great & will check in soon.

Bye for how.

Oh, a little saying I heard on radio other day which I liked:

Love many
Trust few
And always paddle your own canoe

Hi Turtles,
Bandit, that little saying sparks a lot of thinking. As far as weight, you're heading in the right direction. I know you can do this. Hey, are you close to 200# yet? Seems to me that you had broken the onederland line. I'm aiming to do the same, but my many yoyo's are stopping me.

Last night at WI I lost .2#. I was surprised because I thought I'd lose more. On the other hand, my dh decided we should "vacation at home" this week and we ate out 1,000 times. So even though I made great choices all week, we did eat out and that means higher fat, higher salt. I figure if I keep everything under control this week I can lose a little more than a pound. I also have to speed up the exercise--like do it!
I'm thinking of Swania and the Labor DAy challenge. Still have several weeks to go and I am pleased with how I'm viewing my ability to do this. Not a bad week at all and I'm hoping the small weight loss was because of salt.

I've got something inspiring to share about a gal named Grace at my WW's mtg. She
originally lost 235# over 14 years ago. She is approaching 60 years old. She swims daily and goes to work. This year she had been slowly putting weight back on. Then she broke her arm at work. She was so frightened about losing her ability to exercise that she got tough with herself. She started measuring and weighing food again. Surprise surprise! She realized she had been eating much more than she intended to eat. She is OP and has lost 42# since February. Isn't that amazing? She spaces her food out so that she has a little something every three hours. She also has taken up crocheting so that her hands are busy and so she won't eat. Congrats to her and a to her for helping us see that it is possible to lose weight.

Lauren, Miata, Swania, Choosie, and LIn, am sending : to you all.
to us in partaking of one of life's challenges.

Love,
Judy

Hi Judy - yes awhile ago I was under the 200# mark but it has crept up some.
That is my goal by fall to be back there, but as you all know when I am good I am really good but when I am bad it is awful. I still have to learn "moderation"

So far this week I have done OK - had some ribs, corn, roll last night & had to count a few flex points but that is OK.

The eating out all the time is hard on all of us. Too easy to make bad choices.

Anyway, my goal this weekend is to stay OP & get some exercise.

Bye for now.

HI Turtles,
Bandit, I thought you had broken into onederland and am glad you're aiming to hit it again. I think you're like me in the when we're good we're very very good and when we're bad we're awful. My leader keeps talking about flexible moderation. She means to deviate by only a few points or go off Core by only a little when it's important. That keeps a weight loss going.
I'm aiming for a Labor Day WI with Swania and Lauren and anyone who cares to join in.
I had been off to a good start this week and a lot of family yucky stuff interfered. I'm not doing well--threw everything out the window. I'll try really hard to get back on track. Everyone take it easy do all you can and keep on keepin on.
Love,
Judy

Hi - well I have been good all week and got 3 walks in as well. So hopefully I will show a loss tomorrow at w/i.

I seem to do alot of "emotional eating" damage and that is not good. But this week I kept on track even though I am having some personal challenges with ex-boyfriend and trying to meet some new men. I am in one of those "dating sucks" moods.
I think I am too tired to even start a new relationship, diet, exercise, go to work, get daughter ready for back to school, etc, etc.

How about everyone else? How is your home-life? Good, I hope.

Maybe I need a "girls night-out". My cousin is coming for a sleepover Thurs night at my trailer so I think we will have a few drinks and vent - think I need that.

Anyway, have a good one.

Hi TUrtles,
Bandit, you've got a lot on your plate right now and a cousin visit/venting time sounds ideal. You're a very together person and I know you can pull yourself up from this emotional time you're having. Just hang in there. for writing everything down even in this tricky time. You can do this!!!!!

Hey guys--something so funny happened to me. I was babysitting this past weekend.
The kids are draining to say the least. Not only that, when they are *hungry* they eat two bites and leave the rest. Guess where that leftover went? Then in two hours they are hungry again. It brought back all those feelings of having no time to myself that I had when I was a young mom. My eating was out of control then and those feelings reemerged. In any case, I ran after the kids so much and had no set pattern for eating myself. Somehow I lost about a pound. This is crazy but this is what happened. So I am taking it as a reward for doing a nice thing for my family and watching the little ones and I'll just keep on keepin' on. It also points out that when we think we've done unreversable harm, we often haven't.

Good luck to all--Miata chime in and let us know how you're doing. Big bonus--I have started to quilt and love it. We'll have to compare notes because you're such a pro and I'm a beginner.
Love,
Judy

Hi everyone:

Well my efforts paid off - I was down 3.2# at my Tues w/i so was very happy with that. Cousin came up & we had some drinks, chatted and had a really good talk.
Next morning had abit of a headache but felt much better getting some things off my chest.

My eating hasn't been great this weekend - went to see Beach Boys at casino & we were planning on nice dinner there but too busy so ended up having greasy fish & chips then on way home had a small bag of Nachos. But I have counted lots of points for those things & will behave for the rest of this week. Got in a few walks as well so hopefully haven't done too much damage.

But that is what happens - I have a few good weeks then back-slide.

Judy - so nice of you to babysit & the little ones sounded like they kept you hopping. So at least you got in some exercise :-)

Anyway talk to you all soon. Bye for now.

Hi - where is everyone?

Had my meeting last night & was down .2# - not much but glad I wasn't up considering my drinks & fast food. That is 3 weeks in a row that I have shown a loss of some kind, so I feel good about that.

Have been talking to bf about some things - but I am not feeling the way I should anymore. If you can't rely on someone & they don't keep their word - then that is not much of relationship. So we see what happens - I think I should just move on.

Anyway, hope everyone is doing well & talk to you all soon.

Hi Turtles,
Bandit!!!! You go girl!!!! It is wonderful that you have lost weight these last three weeks. That is fabulous considering the stress you're under. Glad you had a chance to vent with your cousin. That was a great thing to do. Sorry I haven't been more attentive to this site, but time is flying for me. I see my dd and her db almost every day and it is very tiring. I'll try to do better. As far as your boyfriend, I know you'll think this through carefully and make the right choice.

I have good news myself. This week I was down 2.2#. That makes me very happy and helps me to understand that if I stay on Core, it works very well for me. Right now I am exactly where I was when I started this new book. The least I weighed during this time was 214# and I went all the way up to 223#. very discouraging. Right now I'm 216.4# and will need to do the right thing more often to get into onederland. However, Swania's challenge is a good one and I'll have lost weight by Labor Day which was my short term goal. My next goal is to lose 8 more pounds by Halloween. I know I can do this.

Good luck to us all. Chime in when you can. See you all in onederland!!!!!
Love,
Judy

Hi Turtles, I'm back. I used to post here years ago, but...well, life went to **** in a handbasket, basically.

I regained all of my 83 pounds lost (ouch) along with 31 friends (OUCH!!!). I'm following WW Flex to take it off again.

I thought for a really long time about what I would say if/when I came back, and I've decided there's just too much. I imagine it will come out in bits and pieces, but for now I just wanted to come back and say hi.

Hi!
