It's been so long since I've posted, I hardly know where to start.

Kathy - I'm glad you made it safely back! Aww, how sweet of Cole telling the teacher about Jesus. You're teaching him well! I like to hang my linens out, too. Nothing puts me to sleep quicker than the fresh smell of the outdoors on my sheets. Hope you get a job soon.

Trish - mini goals are less scary than the final goal for me, too! Like you, I think we can pick out the good parts of different plans and use them to our advantage.

Ruth - I hope you're feeling better now. YAY for you joining the gym!

Sue - hope you're feeling better, too. Yes, I will have some cut flowers again this year. I just love to place vases of flowers all over the house. Before long, I'll have lilacs! For shade, how about some hostas, astilbes, bleeding hearts, impatiens, coral bells, and maybe some shade azaleas? I've got the pink and lavender astilbes, and they are gorgeous!

Hello to Candy, Victoria, Brittany, and anyone else reading this.

I hope you all had a nice Easter. All 3 of my kids, and several grands went to church with Neal and me, and I loved that! Then we met back at my house for dinner. Mary and Katie helped with that, so it was an easy day for me.

My broken pinkie is still very sore, and I only have 1 pair of shoes I can wear. This is going to be a problem when I go to San Francisco next week!

I got a new recumbent bike today, and I think I'm going to love it! It doesn't hurt my knees, feet, or broken toe. It's very quiet, so I can watch TV while riding it. That will make the time go faster, right?

Toodles!

Jane- Now I not only envy you the San Francisco trip but the bike also. I was wondering about a quiet one to be able to watch t.v. Years ago we had a treadmill that was so noisy you couldn't hear the t.v. unless you blared it.

My CA daughter lives north of SF and goes into the city every once in awhile. My IN daughter and granddaughter just got back from Spring Break in CA. They spent a day in SF and also went to Monterey. My favorite trip to CA was when we visited SF and toured Alcatraz. Love the Pier, Fisherman's Wharf and just everything about SF. I could live in Northern CA for SF alone and Southern CA for La Jolla. Hope you have a wonderful time and that the toe doesn't pose too much of a problem.

Sue - I've been to CA before, but not to SF. DD Katie is going with me - we've talked about going for years! Best of all, I get to meet Jaded Ladies Angie and Mary Kate. We all rented a house, so it should be lots of fun! The bike is great! Very, very quiet. I've got in near the bedroom tv, and I think this is just what I needed. Did you decide what flowers you want to plant?

Hello to all others.

I did laundry today including linens and caught up on some paperwork. Also upped my calling plan for my cell phone - that took awhile! I played i-dont-know-how-many games of Old Maid, and fixed chicken tacos for the kiddos. Now I'm just piddling.

Later,

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't been around much. I've been reading a lot and trying to get motivated. I don't know if I shared with y'all about finding 2 books by Anne Fletcher who looked for people who have successfully lost their weight and maintained. I read about her books here on one of the threads. I ordered the books and it was so nice to read about how different people have been successful. We hear so much about people who lose but gain it back. Now I am reading and working on doing the cognitive therapy skills in The Complete Beck Diet for Life. A friend suggested I check it out. Although she includes a diet in this book as a request from some of her patients, I understand her earlier books did not and the skills can be used with any diet such WW, calorie counting, etc. It is more motivational techniques. Some of us, I know I have such bad habits of giving up when I think am doing something wrong or get discouraged. The skills are supposed to help us change our thinking and habits so we don't fall into those traps so much. I am doing it along with my IE.

Victoria CONGRATULATIONS!!! 10% of your weight off means you are a lot healthier. You go girl. I've been surfing the 3fc site and reading a lot. Fat Boy is so cute.

Kathy How has the job hunting going?

Jane I know you are having a blast on your trip.

Sue, Ruth and others

Y'all have a good evening.

Trish,
I know all about gaining back weight and giving up when the scale does not move. April was a lost month for me. I found out about my thyroid and just stopped trying. I still have not had a Dr. put me on medication for Hasimotos. I am holding my loss but found my self at the store shopping like a fat person again. I have a long way to go I will start back on the first when I haver money to shop the way I need to eat.
Thanks for the post it helped me to get back on track Victoria

Hi all,

Trish - yep, the Beck Diet gives cognitive suggestions that I think are very helpful no matter what WOE a person choses. You are so right that it's easy to just give up when things are tough, or when we mess up a bit. I will be doing the Beck suggestions along with WW when I finish the book and get my cards made.

Victoria - most of us here have a long way to go, so we will help you along your journey. One thing I like about WW is that you can eat whatever your family eats by using portion control. You wouldn't really need any special foods.

I had a good time in SF! The day before I got there, I tripped on a sidewalk and bruised a lot of the left side of my body. Being so sore from that, along with having a broken toe, made walking far out of the question. My weight also held me back, so I felt like I put a damper on the whole trip for the others. One of my favorite places was Haight Ashbury, the old stomping grounds for hippies. I saw some very bizarre sites there.

Later,

Hi Ladies,

Victoria - I'm so sorry your doctor hasn't given you the meds you need for your thyroid. I think I'm one of those people who thyroid is low but from what a doctor told me years ago that I'm borderline and most doctors will not give you thyroid meds for it. I'm not sure what Hasimoto is. I think I looked it up once, but can't remember. Will have to google it again. Like Jane says we are here to support you.

Jane - I liked the story in the book when a person had followed one of the skills pretty well, but had one slip during the day and saw it as a completely ruined day. The point made in the book is that the person should have seen it as a good day because the person realized what they had done and got right back on track. We learn from this that a 5 second or minute, can't remember the exact time, trip us up or ruin our progress. How many times have I had the attitude of "I can't do this. I ruined today so I might as well forget dieting today".

This is Day 3 doing some of the skills haven't learned all of them and I am amazed. Finally a diet plan with a required skill to weigh everyday. Yeah cause try as I do I never could give it up. I've lost a total of 1 lb in two days which is saying a lot for me since I have had a difficult time losing. And I've been experimenting with the calories and I have eaten as much as around 1900 calories yesterday. You know WW pushes for us to eat all our points allowed and I never wanted to eat all of them. When I decided to put a limit on my calories, I cut back to between 1200 - 1400. Could it be that I cut them back too much and wasn't eating enough? Also I wasn't eating enough protein which was probably why I was tired all the time. Guess that is no surprise to you Jane because you were always asking me if I was eating enough protein.

Catch y'all tomorrow.

Hi everyone

Just popping in really quick to say hi, and that I am here. Cody had his 18th birthday on Monday, and Kristi had her knee operated on yesterday, so we have been busy with that. Also Cody's graduation is coming next week, so we will have a house full of company I am getting ready for. Ok. Must run

A quick flyby to say I'm still here just working my plan. Ate off a little bit last night but back on today and did well. Did 1 hour exercise which turned out to be too much. I will do minimum just get busy today and Sat and then take a breadk Sunday and start back doing just 30 min a day for 6 days with Sunday off. I forgot that the dvd I do doesn't seem so strenuous when doing it, but boy are you sore the next day. This time I was sore almost immediately after. So have to use wisdom and go a little slower.

Kathy - Sorry Kristi had to have the knee surgery. I'll keep her in my prayers that she have a quick recovery. I don't guess I realized Cody's age. Congratulations on his graduation and wishing him Happy Birthday. Enjoy your company.

Jane, Ruth, Victoria, Sue and everyone -

Have a great weekend!
