Hi gals, that other thread was way too long. I'll check back later.

I just noticed I forgot to put in thread #70...does anybody know how to correct this?

I guess everybody has been really busy, not too much going on here. We have company in from Alberta this weekend. We are going to the Casino tonight...I hope they have a good stage show on, I'm not into the gambling scene too much. I'm more of a people watcher

Lela..I just had to respond to you about your Cholesterol. My DH has never had an overweight day in his life yet he has high cholesterol. March '99 the doctor told him to watch his diet and for 1 year my DH cut back on his fat intake. He even started eating Tofu lunches, he really did try. In March '00 he went for another test, and the cholesterol only came down a bit. So the Doctor said that he was just one of those people who have high cholesterol no matter what they do. He takes Baycol now. Believe, me he sure fought the taking of the medication, but finally he listened to reason and takes it now. It will be interesting to see what his level will be in March '01.
Sherry..I looked in on the Healthy Exchange site. I made the Lemon Squares, and they were quite good. ..Thanks!
I sure hope Lily, Slavika & Josie are having a nice time.

Hope everyone has a good weekend, I will look back tomorrow..

Evening everyone,

Today has been a much better day for me. I've had time to sit back an think things overs. I really didn't think that I would have to take the lipitor, even though the Dr. and I talked about it, I just knew that when I called she would say that my cholestrol was down and just keep dong what I had been.

So all is going better now I took my frist pill tonight, will keep using the debetic diet and watch the fat and cholestrol intake.

Hope every one is have a good week end, for me I will be getting ready to start school this coming week and looking at things to eat and not eat.

Night all Lela

Hello Everyone,

Well as of yesterday at 2:00pm I no longer work at the Hospital. So what am I doing up at this hour? Habit I guess. The girls I worked with brought in goodies for morning break that was the extent of the celebration. My boss was sorry to see me go as I was dependable and she just had to fire one of the new ladies she hired last week. I trained in my replacment. She is the Mother of 16 kids. Can you beleive that I figured she needed to get away from home thats why she took a job. She will do fine as long as the don't work her to death!
I made the rounds to see some Of the residents that I have become very fond of and said my good byes to them.A few were teary eyed until I said I would come back for visits.

The last 2 days I have been on the receiving end of getting flowers. One of our WW Members at our evening meeting in Brainerd gave all of us that work that meeting 2 beautiful roses. One was Royal Blue the other a deep maroon they were just beautiful and what a plesant surprise. Yesterday my DH sent a small arrangement to me at work in celebration of my leaving that place. And then when I got home one of the girls who used to work days with me and then went to nights anyway she had carnations for me. Then stayed to chat for a while. Then on top of all that I lost 2 pounds at the scale. 3 more and I will be back at goal All in all a very nice two days. The only thing is I only have one place in the house that I can put flowers so the Darn Cat doesn't eat them so I've kept the ones from DH and took the others over to my DIL's . I'll just have to go visit them more often.

Cal I'm sorry you had to experince the rudeness of that awful man. Too bad you could not lambaste him a good one and then got in a few good licks from the rest of us. I'm really not a violent person but some times I see red. You seem to have a handle on how to get through that with out turning to food So good for you !

Schoolgirl Hope the medication works for you. It has for My Mom. Be sure to do what the doctor says with diet and exercise and you'll be on top of the world soon.

Well I think I'll go see if I can catch a few more winks. Take care all of you and have a Great Weekend!!

HELLO EVERYBODY I spent a couple of really nice days at the lake with my friend. We just read our books, talked, and watched a couple of movies, and talked and talked some more. Of course in between all that talking there was some eating going on. LOL. I tried not to over do.
My husband came out to get me last night and by the time we left the lake it was quite dark out. We were on the highway about half way home when a truck came barreling up behind us and at the very last possible second pulled out and passed us. My husband said, "Geez (well that's not precisely the word he used) I thought the guy was going to run into the back of us." We're watching this truck just flying down the highway. There was a car way way ahead of us and I said to my husband, "I think he's trying to overtake that car in front of us." All of a sudden, my husband is throwing his cell phone at me, yelling at me to call 911 and give our location and to ask for both an ambulance and the RCMP Highway Patrol. It looked like the truck did the same thing to that car as he did to us, driving right up behind them, and then the last second pulling out into the passing lane. What happened is he turned too hard, overshot the passing lane, just went flying into the HUGE ditch that divides the highway. He went down into the ditch then the truck continued right UP the opposite bank of the ditch smashing the whole front end of the truck like an accordian.
That car way out in front of us stopped and DH pulled us over to a safe spot on the shoulder and he ran out to the truck. I remained in the car, giving the info, but I could see DH was struggling to open the
truck's door which was also just a smashed piece of metal. Another car stopped, with a couple of men in it and finally I could see they got the door opened. The man and the woman from the car (that was in front of us) got to the scene of accident and I could hear the man, who was very very drunk, saying the injured man in the truck was his friend and he and his wife would carry him to their car and take him to the hospital. Well my husband and the other men said no, just leave him, they didn't know the extent of his injuries and that an ambulance was on the way. Well the drunk guy is obnoxious, and yelling his fool head off that his friend is dying and someone give him a cigarette...his last cigarette. They are telling him there is gas everywhere and he is not to light a match there. SO~~~~~where does he come, you guessed it to my car. "Lady, give me a F#$%@# match. I told him I didn't have one. So he told me to just push in the F#$%@# lighter. I said, "look there is no lighter, that is the charger that is plugged in the lighter socket for the cell phone." Then he said, "that's my "brother" lying in the ditch dying and they won't let me give him a cigarette and how some car forced his poor "brother" off the road." I said to him, "nobody forced your "brother" off the road, he was speeding, and lost control of his truck." So then he says to me, "look lady we'll give you and your husband $100,000.00 to say you saw a car force my "brother" off the road and then that car sped off." What a drunken fool he was. Anyway, I could see my husband talking to the RCMP, then the drunk guys wife came and got him. The ditch was filled with water so when my husband got back to our car his sneakers were soaked and covered in mud as were is jeans. He told me the guy in the truck was also very very drunk and just reeked of alcohol. The man was conscious but complained of a sore back but was moving his legs. My husband said the front seats of the truck were pushed way back and both the front air bags had opened from the impact.
How grateful we were that we were NOT involved in that accident. Apparently the fellow from the car and the man from the truck had all been drinking someplace together. The woman from the car (she was driving) appeared to be sober. DH didn't know if the men were really related or friends because he was so drunk and hard to understand. I hope the fellow from the truck will be ok and I hope to God that he loses his license for a very long time. I'll come back to "see" you all later.

Slavika you do lead an interesting life. I am glad that fool didn't hit you. It sounds like his "brother" and he were cut from the same cloth. People who drive like that ought to lose their licenses. I meant to remark the other day that I am sorry that you had to put up with that rude woman's behavior over your pictures. I am afraid that you are more of a lady that me----I would have been forced to blast her.

Karen...So glad you are finished at the hospital. Make sure you use the time you've gained for things for you and your husband----to do the things you all desire-----rather than doing things to make other people happy. Don't let yourself get caught up in the rat race again.

I attended a women's coference today at a local church and it was very good. I heard some things I needed to hear.

My DH and I are trying to get the boys to live with us. We have decided that having the boys full time would be easier than dealing with their mother and her live-in the way we have to now. The boys deserve better. We will see what happens.

Costco opened here Thursday. It is the first time I have ever seen one of their stores. And I didn't really get to see it all. There were so many people there that you could barely move. Then I went out to leave and couldn't find my car. Honest! It took me over 20 minutes to locate it. I was looking on the wrong end ot the store. What a mess.

I guess I have to go. I have to take the boys swimming. Type ya later.

Good Evening ladies, How are you all? Gosh, all it does here is rain, rain, rain!! I guess I should be getting used to it by now Gosh Slavika, that had to be scary what you and your husband went through.Sure am glad that you were both spared an accident! It's too bad that these drunks have to be behind the wheel and endangering innocent people. Your Guardian Angels were with you! I'm glad that you liked the site, Trudy. She has a lot of good recipes. You might enjoy getting her recipe book. She has some awesome pies that are just great!! I think Schoolgirl will do fine with her medicine for her cholestrol. My mom has to take it and she is very thin!! I guess not just the overweight can have their problems, right? Well, everyone have a good weekend, and take care, and stay safe!! Countrygal

Slavika that is some story. I'm so glad you and your DH weren't hit from behind People just don't get it. You wonder who was serving the two men all the liquor. Now many U S states that person could be charged and fined.

Schoolgirl. I take Lipitor and have for a couple of years. First I took Provacol. After a while I thought my eyes were bothering me so I stopped taking it. My chol. went way up. Dr. was after me to lose weight also. I rejoined W W and worked on the weight issue all the time take 20 mg of Lipitor. I hate taking any kind of medication. After I lost 50 pounds with Dr. o k I stopped the Lipitor. Guess what the chol. went back up again. Back on Lipitor. I have just this week reached lifetime again and last month Dr. cut me down to 10 mg of Lipitor. I have blood tests every couple of months to monitor my liver functions. They stay slightly elevated. I feel the Lipitor is no big deal. I take mine before I go to bed. I have cut out fat and was delighted when I discovered I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray. What a life saver.
I know some people think because they take Chol. Meds that they can eat what they want, but for me it doesn't work that way. Good Luck

Schoolgirl. I just read your other post. I see no side effects from taking the Lipitor. Dr. office just has to check liver functions periodically. Some times they tell me every six months. This week Dr. said have blood checked in Dec. So that is good. My DH and I like to travel by RV and it is the pits having to think about blood work when your far away from home. He has to have his checked also for the blood thinning medication he takes. No one in my family ever had chol. problems. My 89 year old mother has not had that problem and she still cooks with butter.

Slavika~~what a story! I am so glad that you didn't get hit by that truck. Those drunk drivers seem to walk away and leave victims behind. I hope he gets charged. Other than that, it looks like you had a nice time with your friend .
Lela~~Once you start taking the medication regularly, you won't even think about it anymore. We have to do what we have to do to get by.
Karen~~ Congratulations on the "retirement" from the hospital. That is so nice your DH and friends making celebrations for you. I hope you just enjoy your days now. WTG...2lbs down! You are so close to goal. The mother of 16...how old is she? You just don't hear about families that big anymore.
Geri~~That is quite an undertaking getting the boys to live with you. It is probably best for them to live with you and DH in a normal atmosphere..GOOD LUCK. I had to laugh at you getting lost in the parking lot, I think that happens to us at least once, they make them so big.
AnnP~~HI, Congratulations on getting back to goal! Some people are just going to have high cholesterol, it's in their genes.

Today was a quiet day for us, we went for a drive and had a bite to eat out, it's nice just to take it easy sometime.

Goodnight all....

Thanks for all the well wishes.

slavika What a time you had on the road. They ought to lock up all drunk drivers and throw away the key!!! I agree with Geri you sure do lead an interesting life . So glad you had a nice time with your friend.

Geri That will be quite the job you'll be taking on. I know the boys will have a better life with you. One thing about it chasing kids will keep you young and thin. I laughed over the lost car too. My aunt who is ony five years older than I am once lost her car at a huge shopping mall in the many floor parking garage. She had only planned to be gone only a few minutes and it was cold so she left the car running. It was at least an hour later when she finally found it and that is because some one picked her up and drove her through the place looking. It's one of lifes most embarrassing moments for her. My quess is she had a lot on her mind.

Trudy The mother of 16 is 66 years old so she is from the old school of big families. Plus they were farmers. The last one is 21 now. Maybe she got a job because of all the quiet?

Did my food shopping today and DH's brother and sister ( twins) have a birthday coming up so we are getting a package ready for them . We always send food stuff along with a gift of sorts as they are on a fixed income and money doesn't go very far. They have enough for basic's but none of the fun stuff like cake mixes and bread mixes for the bread machine. Stuff like that. SIL takes care of their brother who has parkinson,s and is a bit over the edge mentally. She should be declared a saint for all she does for her brother.

That all I've got for tonight. Hope every one is having a great weekend.

LIGHTER - ANN P Hello, there, you "look" new to this board. Welcome.
COUNTRYGAL I think you are right about our Guardian Angels looking out for us last night. GERI that kind of excitement I sure can do without.
The RCMP officer that was at the scene of the accident last night came here to our home at 4:00 to take a statement from us. He is really a nice chap. I asked about the man that was in the accident and of course he was taken by ambulance to hospital. The RCMP officer said the ambulance people got a IV into to his arm before they loaded him into the ambulance and he just went ahead and pulled it out, blood going everywhere. Then he wanted to shake hands with the RCMP officer with this blood all over his arm and hands. The RCMP officer said, "I told him I'm not shaking your hand with all that blood." Anyway~~~~he was given a blood alcohol test at the hospital and of course examined, and he had NO INJURIES. The RCMP officer did not have the results of the blood alcohol test yet. The officer said he couldn't believe that someone could be involved in an accident like that where the truck is a total write off and the driver doesn't have any injuries. Talking about Guardian Angels, that man sure must have had one looking after him. I sure hope he has learned a lesson.
KAREN congrats on becoming more of a lady of leisure. Enjoy this extra time you have now.
Also congrats on the 2# weight loss, WTG.
DONNA where are you these days? I sure hope everything is going ok with you and you are just busy. Please pop in and say hello. I don't think we have heard from PAM for a very long time either.
gANNE hope your computer problems are soon resolved, and we hear from you.
Ok good night all and a special good night to TRUDY .

KAREN do you realize that lady with the 16 children was pregnant for 144 months or 12 years. YIKES. No wonder she got a job, she's probably trying to get away from her husband. LOL
Gad what a day I had. I was thinking of buying a bread machine. One of my friends makes this delicious bread and I thought I would like to make things like that too. Well when I spent those couple of days at the lake with another friend I told her I thought I might like a bread machine. She suggested I take hers from the lake since she has no need of it over the winter and see if I would like it. Today I decided I would make the wonderful bread that my friend makes and as I was having my brother and sister-inlaw over for dinner I would give her the bread to take home and enjoy.
Ok gals, now trust me on this one
I measured out the ingredients exactly, I followed all the instructions pertaining to the making of the bread, I could hardly wait for it to be done. We had just finished our dinner when "ding", "Oh, I said the bread is finished, you are in for a treat". Well first of all I could not get that sucker out of the bread pan. I tried and tried and it was like it was crazy glued in there. So, I call my friend who makes the "delicious bread" and she says, "shake it really hard". Well I shook it until I almost dislocated both of my shoulders.
Did it come out you ask? NO
So DH has a shot at it. He can't get it out either. He says, "I will have to grab hold of the bread itself and pull it out." I say, "Oh no, my beautiful fruit bread will all "squished" (I think that's a technical term)." Well he pulled at the bread and all I can say is MOST OF IT CAME OUT. The rest was stuck around the paddle. That puny bread (it was only about half the size that my friend makes (same recipe)must have weighed 163 Lbs give or take an oz. It was so dense you could have used it as a brick. In fact it looked like a brick and felt like a brick. SIL at this point is trying very hard not to laugh. I, at that point decided it's ok for my friends to do things that I can't do. I can live with that.
Tomorrow I would put out the bread for the birds but I would feel "REALLY" bad if even they didn't want it.
Good night all.

Slavika...you are the funniest person I know. I could just see the whole thing happening. I myself have had similar experiences and have thrown out a couple of bricks. It is easy to goof up and put in too much liquid etc. Don't give up, give it another try. When, and if, (LOL) you get the paddle out, clean the stem and inside the paddle with a wooden toothpick or rubber spatula. The non-stick finish must have worn off. Every ingredient has to be accurate and leveled off. Did you use Bread Machine Flour? I always do. I know the recipes say we in Canada can use all-purpose flour, but I don't. When you wash the fruit you have to dry it really good too.

Well, I'm off to bed, it is 1:16am here and I am still up. Goodnight....

Slavika

The bread machine story is the greatest. I'm soo glad I'm not the only one who can have problems with machines. My DIL bakes the bread all the time but I'm afraid to have one in my house because I'm a bread lover.

Walked over to my Moms yesterday afternoon. It's about 3-1/2 miles round trip. Was a beautiful afternoon so it was nice. Mom and Dad were impressed. Then I stopped by to see my Brother and SIL for a few minutes. The doctor think she may have that Fibermyalga (no clue how to spell that ) So we talked for a few minutes and I of course want to know if they talked to her about diet and exercise. She is 34 way to young to have to deal with this thing. The doctors are still in the maybe stage have not committed to anything yet. Hope they get there act together soon so this girl can get on with her life.

Well this is the first Monday in 7 years (except vacations) That I haven't had to go into work at the hospital feels kind of funny. There are so many things I want to do that I don't know what to do first. Kind of like a kid when he first see's the presents under the tree on Christmas Morning. Guess the first thing to do is go for a walk and get that over with.

Talk to you guy's later
