Default PINK FLAMINGO CAFE - Thursday, April 18

<unlocking the door>

I didn't sleep well at all last night. My foot hurts. I'll be glad when its healed.

Christine, going over points by 2 is not all that bad--you're doing better and you can reverse that today. However, did you bank points earlier in the week? See? All may not be lost! Now...for today...be careful. You weigh in tomorrow.

Emmy, good for you for taking the bull by the horns and getting started today!

Pat, I'm starting the Wendie Plan on Saturday. I figure I had better do something like that because I can't walk for exercise right now.

Joyce, good luck today when you weigh in!

Gotta go eat breakfast (egg sandwich and tomato juice = 4 points)...

Gail

Morning FLAMINGO's !

Gail - Good Luck with the Wendi Plan. I really think it has some merit to it. My problem is eating on that minimum day. <sigh>

Pat - have pants on will walk! Actually I walked from the Keystone Building to our building this morning.

Emmy - The water will be cold, iced and waiting for you. Good job getting those books out.

Ok, my breakfast was a PB sandwich. Not very inspiring but breakfast what can I say. Lunch is a large salad with turkey and light cheese and lite dressing. Can't wait. That will bring me to 13 points. I have tootsie rolls pops here that pat game me, maybe I'll one of them when I get hungry later.

Everyone do your best it's a brand new day!

Default ...before I head off to work

Christine, that's right each day is a fresh start and keeping that in mind sets a positive outlook for the rest of the day don't you think? My skinny mother eats toast w/peanut butter on it every morning. OHMIGOSH! Do ya think THAT is her secret? Peanut butter in the morning?! She even measures the stuff! Oh wow...I shoulda paid closer attention when I was growing up! I love your lunch--I'm having a ham sandwich with a pickle and celery on the side. I have an apple for later to crunch down on when I get stressed out at work. Be strong today--you weigh in tomorrow. Whatever might cross your path today in the way of food just tell yourself you can have it tomorrow!

Later...

Gail

Thumbs down

Good morning PINKIES

It sure felt like a long day yesterday with me not feeling very well, and to top it all off I forgot to call some friends and cancel out for the evening. They were coming over for chili. I was able to get off work just a little early so I hurried to the store and picked up the chili fixin's and threw everything in a pot when I got home. It worked out okay...we sat and visited while the chili simmered. I wasn't able to eat very much of anything, tummy was still a little...shall we say, sensitive.

I'm feeling much better today...just having my coffee before I head out the door to pick up a few things at Kroger. They have a good sale going on right now! I'm not the Bargain Queen or anything, but I like to save a few bucks.

Gail I'm so sorry to hear your foot is still bothering you. I know it must be frustrating the **** out of you when you want to do things.
Thanks for opening up this morning...*holding up my own shiny new key*
Can you believe it?? Miss Amanda is going to be TWO next month? I still remember when you and I were expecting our grandbabies...all that anticipation and excitement! And we were right...look how wonderful they are!!

Pat That sounds like a very pretty outfit you had on! I didn't know you worked at Lerners...for some reason I was thinking it was someplace else.
Grease...that's why PINKIES sounds so familiar. Teri loves that movie...she watches it over and over. I love stockard Channing... she places such a good bad girl, doesn't she?
How are the grandkids doing? And your daughter?

Christine You are doing so good! Don't worry about those 2 points...you've probably already made up for them with all the walking you've been doing.

emmy So I was the party girl of the old PFC ? Hmm...I can't remember that... probably just a reputation cuz I'm a hippychick.
I noticed that your location is VA...what part? I'm just outside of Roanoke.
Sounds like you have your hands full with 3 boys! Telll us more about you and your family, you won't bore us at all...we love sharing info about ourselves.
Good for you for getting out the material and going over it again. I had to do the same thing just a couple of weeks ago. I've started over more times than I care to admit that's for sure.... but if we want it bad enough we can do it!

Good morning Sharon and Joyce !

I can't remember who asked....Christine or Pat? Samantha is arriving the 30th of this month...13 more days! Yes, I'm counting down! She is so excited as well...I get about 4 emails a day. I wish it were under better circumstances for her, she's so sad most of the time. But we'll take care of her...she needs some healing time.

Okay, just had my coffee...gonna grab my Kroger flyer and chequebook and I'm outta here for a little while.

*grabbing a icy bottle of water out of the PFC cooler*

Gail - You're right about not worrying about those 2 points. I had banked some so I can start with a fresh slate and still consider myself OP yesterday. I'm going to try to bank some today though. I love the little things I pick up from posting, it gives me "food" for thought when I go to reach for something. Everything is available tomorrow or the next day or the next day I just have to decide which day I want to have it and work it in.

Judy - Dear I know you're counting down. It's an exciting time being able to see your daughter again, I just wish the skies were a little clearer for her. <HUGS> Have fun shopping. And dont' worry about not being a bargain queen.....that said it brought this to mind....

Ladies I wanted to tell you about something that I read somewhere the other day. I wish I could go back and find it but I'm clueless as to where I was. Anyways I think the post was something about produce being so high in price and how sometimes people refuse to buy certain things if they think the price is outrageous. And I think this had something to do with a certain kind of lettuce (not iceberg). Anyways there was a response about how we have no trouble paying the exact same amount of money on a bag of junk food. And even paying the same amount of money for a point-wise snack food such as Skinny Cows. It just really brought home to me that spending money on "good" food is an investment in myself. I mean just thinking about whether I should have the lettuce over a skinny cow was a eye opener to me.

Good Morning

I did good at dinner. DS wanted to share my salmon and he wanted a piece of steak. So we shared half and half. I ate half of those pieces and I have the other for dinner tonight. And half a potato. And half of my piece of the Mountain Fudge cake. Very chocolatey cake I have no idea to count. 1" by 2" by 2" high, about. I count it as 5? With a drizzle of hot fudge that I count as 1. I'm thinking out loud here while I'm writing it down, total for the day -- 30.

And I weigh in at noon. My scales show a loss of about 2.5 so I'm happy.

Christine - Sounds like you've been doing a lot of walking... Good for you. I think it is time for me to start again. I know it will help. And I know you will do fine!!

Gail - I like having the new thread everyday. Easier to keep track of. I have read about the Wendie Plan. I'm with Christine - the low point days are hard. I try to keep my points down during the week tho so I can bank for the weekend. Sorry to hear you foot is still hurting.

Judy - Sounds like the time is short. You will have a great visit. It's so hard to have our kids so far from us. Sounds like she's had some problems. Hope the trip home will provide the rest she needs. {{{HUGS}}}
I really miss my son, Steve, that is in Fairbanks. We talk and email all the time but it's not quite the same. He and his twin brother have video cams and mikes on their computers so they talk and can see each other. It makes Steve so homesick when he talks to Jade that way. I think he misses his niece most of all.

emmy - Hi - I'm glad you are getting started again - and you are doing it with us. I remember lurking in the Cafe before. Sure glad Gail opened it up again.

I better get. This has taken a long time to post. Kept getting sidetracked. Wish I could stay sidetracked today. BUT I will have my 80 hours in for these 2 weeks at the end of the day, so I don't have to come in tomorrow. DH and I are thinking we might take a ride this weekend.

Later gator

Good Morning PFC!

Gail Sorry to hear you didn't sleep well last night, I didn't either, was too hot, and didn't feel like putting my AC in the window at 3 in the morning. Hope your foot gets better soon. {{{hugs}}} I know you will do good when you go WI on Saturday. That is great your dd is going with you. Been given Maggie hints on how to eat better too. Don't our little grandkids grow up too fast, wow, Amanda is going to be 2 soon..they are so cute when they are that small. My dear grandson always has to give me a hug and kiss when he see me.

Christine Walking we will go... going to be a hot one today too I have to make sure I have some water to take too. I am so glad we are friends, I have gotten so much info and feedback from you, I just wish I could do the same for you.

Judy It's so good to see that you are feeling alittle bit better. Yes, it's Lerners, Disney Store and the State... My dd loves Grease too, and she knows all the songs. I am glad to hear Samantha is coming down soon. My grandkids are doing good, taking them to the baseball game Friday night, DD is working at job thru a temp agency, but's it a job and they seem to like her. We have our ups and downs, but always seem to talk to each other a few days later.

Joyce That was a great supper, I love salmon too, just never know how to fix it at home. Have a wonderful day off tomorrow and I hope your dh have a nice weekend, no matter what you do.

Good Morning to Emmy, Sharon and all new commers Better get some work done, see you later..

Pat

I'm baaaaaaaaaaaa-ack!

I got some good healthy stuff...bags of lettuce is buy one get one free...so is grape tomatoes, strawberries, and seedless cukes. Gonna make a heck of a big salad tomorrow night. Have any of you tried Kroger's BigK drinks? The diet lemon tea is really good...caffeine free too. All the 12 packs are on sale for 1.25 each! I picked up some diet pink lemonade too...for the family I got some regular soda. I'm gonna be drinking my water too! Sorry, don't want to sound like a shopoholic or anything like that...but I do like to share some food finds. And before I forget to add...I found WW MINT ice cream sandwiches. Wahoo!

Joyce It IS hard having one of our kids so far away, isn't it? Samantha really is going through a hard time right now. She had already planned her trip months ago to come visit us for two weeks. Her husband springs on her (again) that he's not sure they should stay together blah blah blah.... So she's going to stay up to 3 months with us and try to decide what she wants to do when she goes back...IF she goes back. But she's strong...like her momma, so she'll come through it fine.
Good luck at weigh in!

Gail Just had an egg sandwich for breakfast too. Mind you it's a late breakfast but that's okay. That means I'll have a late lunch and then just a snack when I get home tonight. Hmm...I might have to sample a mint ice cream sandwich before I leave for work though.

Pat Any news on a prospective apartment? Hope things turn around for you soon.

Alright...I'm doing the Cascade Complete test. The guys on the morning radio show rave about it...and just last night a friend told me about how great it works. The chili bowls weren't rinsed last night. I'll let you know the results later. :lol Aren't you all so anxious to know this?

Talking Thursday morning...

I'm wearing out boxes that I've put under my desk to prop my right foot up. I'm on my third box! Both doctors (family and specialist) said it would take 4-6 weeks for it to get to feeling better. I'm impatient.

While I've been on program, I've been eating at maximum points and with me not being able to walk on the treadmill and I've been limiting my movement in every area of my life, I'm finding that I'm either maintaining from a week ago or my weight fluctuates upwards and then back down to a couple of pounds less and then back again--its a rollercoaster ride. I know I've told a few this but I've decided starting Saturday morning I'm going to have to eat less--I'm going on the Wendie Plan for sure. I'm getting my head together NOW in order to do this. I know others have done this plan with marvelous results so I'm doing it...

Pat, yes these grandkids do grow fast! It seems just like yesterday that I was watching Amanda being born. My parents are coming up from Va. Beach to attend this year's birthday party for her! I think my daughter and sil are renting one of those portable thingeys (don't know what to call them) that the kids can go inside and bounce around in. The party will be a cookout--a very easy OP party...except for the cake but I've already made the decision to be OP then.

Joyce, you did good last night out to dinner! Proud of you! 5 points is probably a good guesstimation for that small piece of cake. Good luck today at weigh-in. Wish I had off tomorrow! I can't wait for this summer--I'm taking Thursdays and Fridays off in June and July! Summer cannot come fast enough!

Christine, I had a feeling you were still OP! Don't you feel strong? Don't you feel in control? Doesn't that feel good? I've heard that before too--we think nothing of buying junkfood and gripe about the high cost of healthy food. <shaking my head in agreement>

Judy, I had forgotten all about that--PINKIES! THAT is what we used to call ourselves! I'm glad you're feeling better today. Soooo glad you received your shiney new key to the front door!

Emmy, that's right...you're from Virginia! You do remember that I'm from Virginia Beach? And hubby and I go back there all the time because our parents and other assorted relatives are there?

Well...gotta go...work calleth my name...<sigh>

I know once your dd is with you, everything is going to be fine. Have fun with you test

Ok, I got my 32 oz of water 1/2 way gone... anyone else?

Default MY GOODNESS GRACIOUS

Pat!, $850 for an apartment?! THAT is expensive! Tell me the apartment complex has a security gate for that amount of money? And an exercise room...and a jacuzzi...and a pool...and free cable!

Is it time to go home yet. I know we shouldn't wish our life away but dang I'm tired.

Joyce - Yes I've been walking lots with the exception of yesterday. Maybe that's why I was in a downer mood too. I know when I'm walking I'm doing something good for myself. Well even as tired as I feel I'll be out there in the heat again today.

Pat - Dear you do give back to me you just don't know it. Your determination and your success is spuring me on you know. I need you probably more than you need me!

Judy - When you're telling us these food find you do not appear to be a shopoholic. You are informing your friends where the OP good food buys are. I'm drooling here at the thought of WW Mint Ice Cream Sandwiches.

Gail - I do feel strong and good and healthy and I feel positive about my WI tomorrow. Now if I can just hold this together for the rest of the day. I can't believe my little rinky dink store had the WW Ice Cream Sundaes and yours don't. Beware (and here I go complaining about food prices. LOL) at my store they were $4.49 for a package of 4. Clearly buying a carton of fff ice cream and adding a drizzle of chocolate syrup would be a best buy cost-wise. BUT, WW has this all measure out for us. Gosh here goes the mind over matter stuff again.

Sharon - Hi!

Ok a question out of desperation......What do you do on days that you are starving to death. Ok of course I don't mean that figuratively. Anyways I'm hungry. I'm beyond the stomach growl..I just sort of skipped that. Why do I have days like this? Anyways here's what I did. Without a plan I went to the snack bar knowing I needed something but worried about what my hands would reach for.....Then I saw it.....Yogurt! 4 points and I got a milk in. Now to just wait another 30 minutes and I can eat my lunch.
