  • Wow, it's here!
We will have a happy, healthy, prosperous year.
If this is your first time here, we are a great group who follow Weight Watchers and weigh-in or used to weigh-in on Thursdays.
Some of us weigh different days but that doesn't matter.
You will find great support, new ideas and happy people here. So, come on in.

Tammy, it's normal for you to worry about Tim driving that truck, in this weather. How are Bob and Kramer doing?
Dori, good luck to you and Justin starting WW. Y'all can do it!!!
Susan, how is your kitty? I hope playing in the band didn't make Pat hurt more.
Maureen, are you still out there reading this? If so, get yourself back to posting. We are wondering what you've been up to.
    Amy, please post again!!!!!

Larry and I had a nice quiet time last night. It was hard to stay awake until midnight. We have so much to be thankful for.
Oh, since he's going to be home for a couple of months, I'm going to do my best to only fix healthy meals.
Last night we had a lot of Chinese food. It's the most I've eaten in several weeks. I stepped on the scale this morning and didn't see a gain!

    Everyone have a great day!
    Tina
  • Happy New Year!!

Tina, thanks for getting us started on the new thread for the new year. It is so hard to believe how 2007 ended up for our families, isn't it?

Bob is honestly concerning me. He mentioned last night that he doesn't miss the drinking at all, but he said he is worried about other things. He wouldn't elaborate. I'll be pumping him for info later. I know he is sleeping quite a bit, and different foods are still bothering him, even mild foods. He goes back to the liver specialist on Jan. 23. I think it wouldn't hurt just to go in and see our family doctor and tell him the concerns. We'll see.

Kramer is another story. He is still wetting in the house every now and then. He is taken out often. He seems to be drinking more water, so I should get him into the vet before we leave for GA. I don't know how I'm going to handle being that far away from Tim and Kramer. We'll talk to Tim often, but it's kind of hard to do with a dog. Tim will also be flying to GA for a few days in Feb.

I love Chinese food! That's great about no gain!!

I haved tried getting things for healthy meals, but I never know what Bob will be in the mood for or what will bother his stomach. One of these days we'll figure something out.

Tim just said he's planning to leave here about 4:00. That should get him back to school in daylight. He said he'll call when he gets to the motel. I'm sure he won't have any problem finding a place to eat tonight. Bob said he'd give him some money to eat out on tonight and tomorrow. The band is being provided meal money for the days that they are in Toronto. Not sure how much a day, but I thought that was great that the kids don't have to worry about it. Their hotel rooms are also being furnished. They are so excited! I wish I was going, but I'll just have to watch the game on Saturday. Ball State plays Rutgers, and I'm pretty sure they will be on the losing in, but you never know.
  • I just changed my tracker to show the weight that I've lost and the weight that I still want to lose. The weight I want to lose may change the closer I get. We'll see how I feel and what the doctor says. I had thought doing it in 10 pound increments would be better, but I'll give this a try and see what happens.
  • Happy New Years!!! 2008.... oh my!!!

We had a good time last night. Pat isn't saying much about how his feeling. I can just read him. I told his friend Martha today, "Keep encouraging him to go back to the doctor." Maybe if we tag team him, he will.

I'm feeling good or better. Skinney (the cat) had to go yesterday for an IV of fluids to help flush his kidneys. He HATES the antibiotics and one of us normally ends up with some blood and scratches...... humans of course. He seems to be better. He goes back on Saturday for blood work again.

Tammy, ya'll be careful on your trip. I would worry about Tim, Kramer and Bob too! Keep us posted.

Tina, I know you are exhausted!!!!!! Try and get as much rest as possible.

Amy and her crew head back on Friday. What a long time to be gone? At least I think so but I'm a home body.
  • Brrr.... It's too cold here to exert much energy for exercise.
I know, it's not cold like up North but we had a wind chill of 26 this morning. It's supposed to be a little bit colder in the morning.

Be proud of me because I'm cooking such healthy meals. My wonderful sister has brought us several things to eat and they were all healthy, too.
A friend from church came the other day with a large bag of fruit. They have a lemon tree and two different kinds of orange trees. We'll certainly get in all our vitamin C.

Getting rested is something I can't do. Larry needs my constant attention. My mornings are gone before I know it. I did stop this afternoon and have some hot tea and a WW chocolate ice cream bar and watched an episode of "Charmed." That was a nice break.
Tammy, let us know how Tim does driving that truck.
Susan, when do you go back to school? Is it Friday?

Dori, please tell us about your WW meeting experience.
Are they doing anything new/different this year? I haven't been to a meeting in months.

I hope we get a few new members to our group, since it's a new year.

  • It is cold here too! This Texas girl would never survive up north in the great blue yonder!!!! BRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!! Is right!

Tina, I agree too cold to exercise. I go back to school on Monday. I'm glad has gone back to work so I have a few days to do just stuff.

I am sure that you are having to do EVERYTHING for Larry. I remember when Pat had his neck surgery. It does get better

    Tammy, how are you doing?

Dori, I think it's great that your husband is going to WW with you? Please tell us about any changes.

I had lunch with a friend and got my hair colored. I just wish I could fix it like he does. After I wash it, it looks the same
  • Well ladies things are going well. We didn't get to the grocery store until today, so we will be starting a little later than anticipated. However, I have been watching what I eat. My meeting will be tomorrow. I'll let ya'll know how it goes. I'm trying to decide if I want to continue to pay for meetings or if I just want to do it at home. Justin will already be doing it at home. I will probably end up just doing it at home. The reason is we have bowling Thursdays and we leave at 6:15. Well weigh in starts at 5:30 and the meeting at 6. The majority of the time I'm in such a hurry that I just run in weigh and run right back out. We'll see though.

Sorry for not posting sooner. Trying to get into the swing of things after being gone for a week. *sigh*
  • Susan, I hope Pat goes to the doctor until everything is straightened out with him. Bob didn't do that after he had been to the doctors last spring and look where that got him this fall. Stubborn men!!! Glad that you are feeling better.
How long has Amy been gone? I like to go away, but I'm always ready to get home. I know I'll really be ready after spending a little over a month down south.

It is 5 degrees this morning, BUT there is no wind for the first time since Monday!!!! That should help get all of the roads cleared from all of the drifting. Also, I won't have to go out and shovel a spot for Kramer every time he needs to go out.

Tina, that's great about the healthy meals. We have oranges and grapefruit that I'm going to peel and make a fruit salad for later. Glad that you did get to take a little break! I know you are busy with Larry.

Tim and crew were supposed to head out this morning. They should be in Michigan by now. Not sure what time they'll get to customs. I hope they don't have any problems. He has his passport with him to make things easier. I just hope they don't want them to empty the back of the truck of all the instruments to check things.

I'm feeling ok. I even cancelled my chiropractor appt. yesterday. The only reason I had made it was because she said if I was still having problems with the shoulder blade to come back in. No problems!! (knocking on wood!!) I do play to go in to see her before we leave the end of the month.

Dori, I can understand why you wouldn't want to continue doing the meetings. If you have something else going on, you really aren't getting anything from the meetings except the weigh in.

I really need to kick my butt and get moving. I hated to change my tracker to show the holiday gain, but I was feeling guilty knowing that the other one wasn't right. I want to move that butterfly!!!

Most of the goodies are gone, so I should be able to do better. Bob just went to the store to get fixings for chili for later today. Yummy!!!
  • Morning

Tammy, 5 degrees..... WOW!!!! I can't even imagine, plus all the snow. I think the 20's is freezing. I agree with you on Pat but you know men. If I keep bugging him, he won't go for sure and if I just play it low key, he JUST might go in.

I sure hope Tim and the band don't have to empty the truck. That would be HORRIBLE!!! I plan on watching the game.

Tina, how are you? I'm glad that they are bringing you some meals. Cooking would be just one more thing to worry about for you.

Dori, I agree with Tina and Tammy! I would go get the information and not go to the meetings. You can do it at home and if you went you would just be stressing yourself trying to get to bowling.

I need to get serious again. I just like to eat!!!

Amy has been gone since Christmas day. They drove out and it took them 2 days. They are starting back today. I think they are ready.... at least Jump is ready to be home. They will get home on Sunday and then have to go to school on Monday. I wish they had a little time to rest before they have to get back in the swing of things.

Better get moving and go to the gym or I'll change my mind and not go.
  • A "Larry Report"
We just returned from the neurosurgeon. He was so pleased at the progress Larry's made. He removed the little strips of tape and showed Larry how to shave around the area.
I didn't see it real good because the men were standing in front of me at the mirror. I felt like I should jump up and down, but didn't.
This time, the dr. said Larry's numbness should go away within a year's time. He was very positive that it would go away.
I forget how long he wants Larry to have therapy.
We go back in 6 weeks. Then, they'll take x-rays to see how it's healing. He might be able to take off the soft collar (but probably not for another month after that). I'm still going to be tired for a while. But, everything is positive!

    Everyone have a good day!
  • Quote: I hope we get a few new members to our group, since it's a new year.

Hi! I'm new here I posted in the thread in the sticky to introduce myself. This is my third time on WW but I do I'm doing it on my own this time. I do great losing the weight and then I'm horrible at sticking to the plan after
  • Hi Kelly, Welcome!
Glad you found us and will join us.
I know the feeling - sticking with the plan. It's much easier said than done.

I'm Tina, I reached Lifetime in '92 but have been "off the wagon" for a long time. Once I upped my goal weight and wish I'd upped it more.
I have a grown son and one great husband, who recently had spine surgery. He (husband) wants to lose some weight, so, it'll be easier to cook healthier meals now.
Anyone have any great recipes to share? I will look one up and post it.
  • Welcome to the group Kelly!

Tina, I'm so happy for Larry and YOU!!!! He sounds like he is really making some major strides.

It's cold here. My nose and checks are raw from being out from running errands. I had lunch with my student and her mom. It was good seeing her. I sure miss those kids and will be glad to be back with them on Monday (now ask me Monday if I'm as happy

Well, better run feed the dogs, and do a few things before Pat gets home.

Oh, I did go exercise this morning.
  • Welcome Kelly. I have down WW's numerous times, but never followed it like it should have been. I started again today and I'm determined to lose this weight.

As far as recipes go. I have one for Taco Soup. Here it is.

    1 lb Lean Ground Beef
    1 can Kidney Beans
1 can Fat Free Refried Beans
    1 can Chili Beans
    1 can Black Beans
    1 can Corn
1 can Rotel Tomatoes or Plain Tomatoes
    1 can Tomato Sauce
    1 Package Taco Seasoning
1 Package Hidden Vally Original Ranch Dressing

Brown meat and drain. Combine remaining ingredients and meat together. Cook in Crock Pot on High for 4-5 hours or prepare on stove top. I like using the Crock Pot because it allows all the flavors to blend. Yummy. Justin (DH) loves this recipe.

    1 cup = 2 1/2 pts
  • Dori, that recipe sounds so good. I'm going to make it right away.

Susan, I went out this afternoon to drag the Christmas tree out to the curb. Brrr...... Glad you had a good lunch.

Tammy, what's the word from Tim. I hope they made it over the border without a hassle.

Kelly, what's your weather like in Vegas? Does it really ever get cold there? I've only been there in the dead of summer!
