Are my results typical?
Every so often, I do a juice fast for cleansing purposes. Since I run pretty frequently and also because I'm heading to Texas for basic training (Air Force) in a month, I decided to stick to a short fast of 3 days. After completing the fast, as the research suggested, I slowly introduced foods back into my diet. Today is the third day off the fast. I find myself eating more whole/raw foods than before and feeling much better. Let me just recap my juice fast/diet over the last 5-6 days and my weigh-ins:
Day one juice fast:
Weight--164
Juice consumed--18 oz. carrot juice, 18 oz. apple juice (freshly squeezed)
Day two juice fast:
Weight--163
Juice--24 oz of each carrot and apple juice
Day three juice fast:
Weight--161.5
Juice--30 oz of each carrot and apple juice
Day one off fast:
Weight--160
Food--
3 bananas
2 Lara bars (raw fruit and nut bars)
1/2 cup oats
1/8 cup soy milk
Spinach salad with 4 Tbsp. Balsamic vinegarette dressing (all natural kind)
Day two off fast:
Weight--157.5
Food--
3 bananas
2 Lara bars
1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup soymilk
6 Lg. strawberries
1 cup Blueberry/Pomegran. juice
2 packs of Emergen-C vitC/glucosamine
1/4 cup raw cashews
Day three off fast (today):
Weight--157.5
Food (so far)--
2 bananas
1/2 cup kefir raspberry yogurt drink
1/2 cup oats
1/4 cup soymilk
10 Lg grapes
Lara bar
1 cup tropical-C Naked juice
1 Dr. Praeger's Tex Mex veg. burger (in toaster oven)
Plan for the rest of day--Spinach salad with vegi-thousand island dressing and 1/4 cup raw almonds.
It's odd because once I introduced food into my diet, I expected my weight to go up, NOT down. I think it has to do with the fact that most of my foods are whole foods and raw. I ran today for the first time since my fast--3 miles. I had so much energy. I'm just wondering what experiences everyone has and how "strict" you are with it.
Oh, I meant to add that I'm a fairly healthy individual to begin with. I've been vegetarian for 8 years (this month) and I tend to make healthy decisions. I just don't always reach my fruit/veg RDA requirements.
Thanks in advance for opinions, advice, and your stories!
