Macrobiotic diet anyone?

I tried to do a search for this, but it didn't come up with anything. I am surprised!

Anyhoodle, just wondering if anyone has adopted any of the macrobiotic principles in their diet. I am thinking of doing this because it seems to make sense. It would be great to talk to someone about it!

I'm surprised there's nothing on 3FC about macrobiotics, too! My mom has half-heartedly practiced macrobiotics for years, so I am familiar with it.

I agree with the philosophy, but I eat meat products. I have a garden, though! :)

Have you been reading a particular book?

yeah, I was reading quite a bit of stuff on the internet, and then I purchased "The Macrobiotic Way" by Michio Kushi.

I was a vegetarian for a long time and only in the past few years started eating chicken and fish, so no red meat is something I already do, and I'm a bit iffy about chicken anyway so it would be no problem to not have it.

However, I do have a problem with soy products, my stomach doesn't really like them, all except one type of soy milk and edamame beans are okay.

I didn't want to get hardcore strict about it, but definitely want to try to adopt a lot of the principles. I would like to try to start eating macrobiotic breakfasts for sure, and eventually *gasp* cut out coffee in the long run.
