Looking for Green Drink recipes
I know they are simple to make, but I don't want to do the whole trial and error thing! So, if you make these what are your fav ingredients and/or recipes. Do you only use veggies, or do you add fruit also? I make a good smoothie including spinach and carrots, but I'm trying to use more green veggies and less fruit so it's less calories. But I wonder if the greens need to be "camouflaged" by fruit? Thanks!

I always add fruit but it is also my breakfast and still low calorie despite my fruit.
My lazy drink lately is...
Lots of spinach (6 cups or so)
1 cup of frozen strawberries
1/2 frozen banana
For a while I was doing a bit more elaborate drink:
Lots of spinach (6 cups or so)
2-3 stalks of celery
1/2 english cucumber
10 baby carrots
a bit of fresh ginger
1/2 apple
1 cup of frozen strawberries
For the more veggie green drinks, I really like the apple and ginger combination. I do think you can experiment with your own tastes, adding things here and there, lessening some of the more calorie rich things. I like frozen strawberries because they add a nice texture/taste to the green drinks. Cucumber is a pretty mild addition. Celery is a nice addition with a strong flavor but pairs with the ginger nicely.

THANKS, Nelie! I printed your post out. I think the apple/ginger sounds great. Have you ever used kale?

Actually I have but I much prefer to eat kale in other ways than to put it in a shake You can put any green in a shake.

So today I made a good smoothie - not totally "green", although it turned green as it sat! I used a few strawberries, a few peach slices, a pineapple wedge, a couple cups of spinach and a medium sized carrot along with protein powder. It was fantastic.

Inspired by this thread, I put 1 cup of fresh spinach in my morning blueberry-soy protein-ground flaxseed-milk-shake. To my surprise, the spinach really added no taste at all, just a little bit of extra texture. Then I looked up the nutrition data, and it only adds a whole 7 calories. Yay whole foods!

Yeah, the spinach adds no flavor really. I've been adding 2 cups and like you said the only thing that changes in the "fiberishness".

Aojiru
I've had really great luck with a japanese green drink called Aojiru. Add that to any shake and it's wonderful.
They sale it on ebay.

You may want to check out the recipes on http://www.jointhereboot.com. I have just started juicing and it's been a wealth of information. People also give their reviews on the different recipes. You may need to register to get in to look at the recipes but it's free and instant. Their database is searchable by ingredient too, and they have them broken up into different categories according to time of day you have it, and different tastes & dietary considerations. I'm not juice fasting, just doing it to improve my intake of fresh fruit & veg.
