Thin4Life - Nov 6/06
Good morning Lifers, soon-to-be Lifers and anyone else lurking out there! Feel free to join in our discussion!!
I had a "lost" weekend. Saturday I did a few things around the house and yesterday was spent sitting in a meeting from 11:30-4:30!
It's gorgeous here today--sunny skies and the temps are supposed to hit up around 60--a total turnaround from last week's snow and cold! I'm not complaining at all! I'm planning on getting outside for a walk over the lunch hour.
I really need to get refocused and get rid of this extra weight I've managed to let creep on. My clothes just don't feel good like they did before and besides I want to look and feel good for DS's wedding next year!
So how was everyone's weekend??

Melissa, good morning. Sounds like you're having nice weather. It will be 80 here today. We've been having a lot of wind though which is cooling. Yes, for sure, you want to be svelte for DS's wedding.
I had a busy weekend. I took off on Friday to meet the plumber. That was very frustrating. It turned out that we had bought the wrong tub, so I had to exchange it (drove 150 miles as our store was out of stock). Grrr. Well, the plumber is at the house today. DH is off work, so that part will be done. Then the contractor will be back to finish the rest of the work. On Saturday, DH had a 15K race; I volunteered. Then we went to a picnic. That night we went to a party--reunion of some folks I used to work with about 10 years ago. That was a lot of fun. I must say that DH and I were the thinnest ones there.
On Sunday I had a rehearsal.
How's everyone else?

It's cool and rainy here today...yesterday was absolutely gorgeous! I went for a long walk over the lunch hour and today my buddy and I went to the Wellness Center to walk. I always feels better after I get my walk in!
On the eating front I'm still battling the urge to snack at night--the last few nights have been better...I just need to stay focused. It's not easy!
I'm making jambalaya tonight for dinner so that won't be too bad.
So where is everyone??
Lisa: I talked with my gf yesterday and she said the weather has been nice. We're on the rollercoaster with changes. Tomorrow it's supposed to be sunny and 60! Sounds like you had a really busy weekend as well.
Not much else going on here--it's quiet for the most part in the office.

Hi Lisa and Melissa.
A drive-by to say hello and that I've been away from the office for about a week. End of last week I was on the road and beginning of this one - sick. I think maybe there's a corellation.
All of the Hallowe'en candy has left the building. Took the last of it to my friend and her kids last nite. Now to get the three pounds off that resulted from having that evil stuff around. Not to mention having to retrain my taste buds to like veggies over sugar. Grrrr..why do I do this to myself?

Melissa, I've never made Jumbalaya--is it difficult. Yes, nighttime snacking is a bad one.
Susan, sorry you're sick. When you figure out why we do it to ourselves, you'll be rich and you can sell the latest diet fad!
Hi, Pam, lala, Julie, Austingal.

Hi everyone,
Sorry to be so out of it. Just over busy.
I am now in weebleland.
I am sad.
However, as usual, I am leaving on Friday for London.
Why do I do this to myself?
Lisa - that sucks about the tub, seriously.

Lala: I saw the news last night and how hard the rain is hitting Washington and was wondering if it had affected you at all. I hope you have fun in London!! It's on the quieter side here and it makes for a long day.
Susan: Glad to hear the Halloween candy is gone--if you come up with an answer let me know! I've found myself doing the same thing. I know I could get my weight under control if I'd stay out of the snacks, etc. It's frustrating!
Lisa: How's the bathroom coming? I'd be chomping at the bit to get it all done
It's supposed to be warm (60) today but they're calling for some rain. I was hoping to meet my friend this afternoon and go walking but it doesn't sound like we're going to be able to do that. I have 2 bags in the car--one with my sneakers, sweats, etc. if we can go walking and the other has a pair of jeans and shirt in it. I could wear jeans for walking as well. It's going to be one of those days where I'm going to have to wait and see if the rain materializes. I have a feeling it will. I could always go to the Wellness Center and work out.
Hi to Julie, Liz, Pam! Hope everything is going well with you!

lala, yes, have fun in London. Sorry about weebleland.
Melissa, that's funny that you have to carry different types of clothes for whatever you may encounter.
It's a little cooler here today. We've had some much needed rain, but last night near Orlando there were tornadoes (don't want those).
Bathroom update: The tub is in, drywall is up, tile goes in today. The whole shebang (except for moi painting the walls) will be done on Saturday.

Melissa: I did the same thing this morning! I've got clothing for a run outside and another set for the gym in case it's raining too hard. That's determination!
Lisa: Great progress on the bathroom. It will be so gratifying when it's finally done.
lala: What (or where) is weebleland??
I really missed my sugar fix last night. Had to resort to cereal. Hope to make some progress and not have any snack at all tonite.

Hi everyone.
I just feel soo round. I did go to the doctor yesterday and we both decided that the root of most of my problems is my weight. If I was to lose 20 lbs I would probably would not be seeing her for some water retention from flying, my back and other little things.
So, we are making a plan. I will probably talk to DP tonight (who is in a foul mood because her bd cake is late) and tell her that I can't eat with her, I need to eat when I need to eat and what I need to eat.
I also need her to remove some of the 10kg of some of the best chocolate in the world from the house. I managed to nearly demolish a small box of pierre marcolini by myself this week.
That is bad.
I need to get back to the gym. I need to start getting more sleep.
I need to stop travelling.
Okay, enough about me.
Lisa - I'll send you some of my rain if you want it.
Melissa - We're okay. The really heavy stuff was south/west and east of here. We only had about 2.5 inches. Thankfully our basement is dry and we have been raking like mad.
Susan - cereal is better for you. I will also not try to snack tonight.
Hi to Pam, hope your shoulder is feeling better.

Just a quick update this evening...I was down .4 and I'm okay with that; it's not as much as I had hoped but then I did have a couple of run-ins with Reese's peanut butter cups!
We did a story board in our meeting today for next week and my goal is to have another loss at the scale. Part of my problem is not getting in the 8 guidelines, one being my milk so I'm really going to focus on that this week.
My friend and I did get our walk in and it felt great! We got a little over 4 miles and my pedometer is registering 14,094 steps and it's only 6:30 here! Now if I can keep this feeling and stay away from the red light foods life would be good. I found some pictures that were taken 2 years ago when I was in the 130's and I looked great--that's where I want to be!
Lala: I totally understand the "round" feeling and I know what you're talking about with the water retention. Even though I drink a lot of water I still battle with that when I travel. I'm glad you didn't have any problems with water. The pictures they've shown on the national news of the water and the damage is scary.
Lisa: The hard part is figuring out what type of clothes cold vs. warm because the temps are weird right now. I ended up walking in my jeans, t-shirt and a light jacket and I was fine.
Susan: Yes, you and I are certainly determined that we'll get that exercise in. I figure if nothing else I know I'm moving more! Now to work on the eating issues and life would be good
Have a great evening! I'll post more tomorrow!

Ran indoors on the treadmill last nite but it wasn't as boring as usual cause my sister was with me and we chatted throughout the run. I wasn't inspired to do any strength training; need to get back to that starting tomorrow.
I managed to stay away from snacks after dinner last nite too. A big hurdle! I roamed about bemoaning the fact that the candy was all gone (and thankful at the same time). Then I just settled down, watched a bit of TV and drank water. Here I am this morning bright-eyed and down half a pound.
Melissa: My big dream is to see the 130s again in this lifetime. The funny thing is, I know that it's achievable and even realistic for me. I have plenty of fat left on my body even at my WW goal weight of 147. Actually, I should correct that first statement. My dream is not to be able to pinch more than an inch of fat. Certainly not the case right now.
lala/anyone: Interested in a 5-lb challenge?
Have any of you ever done the half plough position in yoga, with your butt in the air and your knees dangling beside your ears? I was horrified when I did it for the first time last week. Now that's one impressive view of one's stomach, and in my case, it wasn't pretty. I know that toning would make a huge difference too, but there is still fat to be lost. Am trying to psyche myself into a push to get this done, once and for all. (Like I said, it's a dream...)

Melissa, glad you're moving and that you were down some!
Susan, good for you for getting your exercise in. The half plough does not sound like anything I want to attempt.
lala, you are on your way. You've recognized the issues, now get going.
Exercise has not been my issue, but snacking has. I haven't lost any weight, but I don't think I'm up either. WI is Monday; we'll see.
Well, I'm off tomorrow so won't be posting. Hope to play some golf, enjoy the new bathroom remodel (still need to paint), sing in a concert with a full orchestra (can't wait) and the requisite rehearsals.

Hi everyone.
Susan - I have ploughed and it was not pretty. Yes, I can challenge.
Melissa - it rained more yesterday. My friend at Mt.Rainier said it is ugly up there.
Lisa - I am getting getting it together.
Hi Pam!
Okay, I have just signed up for the Hard Rock half marathon (walking) in eight weeks. Me thinks I'm going to be a very busy beaver....
At least I have a few good days of walking in London, but then, I better speed train.

Hello Ladies! I just wanted to check in and let you know that I'm not dead and I haven't jumped of the WW wagon. Life has been really crazy the past few months and I haven't had much time to get on the computer. I'm still maintaining in my Lifetime status, weighing in once a month. I've actually dropped well below my goal weight now so I have a little wiggle room for the holidays. It's a great feeling!
I'm happy to see that you all are still working hard to stay healthy fit. I've missed you!
