Default Stupid Vegetable question

Hi, I'm hoping one of you Weight Watcher's can help me with this question. I know vegetables such as corn, potatoes and peas are not zero point vegetables, BUT do they still count towards the daily goal of 5+ vegetable/fruit servings? I know under the old exchange system, they were considered breads, but I really, really want to count them as vegetables. Any ideas?

Unless you are diabetic and then they are starches.

Hi, just wanted to add for any other Brits out there like me, The Uk department of Health states that potatoes are not to be counted as a vegetable portion, but as a starch, which although valuable to the daily diet, does not count towards the 5 a day.
Why different countries have to have different rules when we all basically have the same bodies beats me, but there you go.

Because in the states we don't have 'starches' as a food group. We have grains/complex carbs <which technically a potato could e>, dairy, veggies -- fruits, protein, fats/sweets at the to to be limited.
