patchymama, I know what you mean by not loving it. My dad (a daily runner) told me that every time I start hating it to just think about the results I'm getting from it, so that helps through!
Absolutely. I ran for 25 minutes today I hate it, but at the same time... its pretty empowering to be able to do it. That is good motivation.
derrydaughter - yay moving! Its good, it makes you feel good
Anybody who knows me, knows I do not do mornings...at all. But, this morning I wanted to go to the Farmer's Market, so set my alarm clock for 7:00AM (on a Saturday) so that I could get to the market early, before everything was gone.
This time last year, I would NEVER have gotten up that early on my day off to go and buy vegetables...I'm actually starting to look forward to fresh fruit and veggies. That is a huge NSV for me.
My NSV today was choosing to not go out for pizza when it would have been an easy choice, since I'm not formally going to start WW for another week or so (still researching) and giving away a lot of temptation when I cleaned my kitchen today!
It felt better to organize and make a healthy choice than the scale victory that I also had this week starting out!
ps-I love the idea of starting my measurements that others stated in this thread, to help me recognize other types of victory!
You guys are awesome!
I haven't been up very long and don't have anything really cool to report to all, but I just want to say that it's great hearing what you all are doing.
It makes we want to keep on with all of this, and it can be so discouraging at times, as I want to be able to report things to all of you!
These small victories are so essential, they are what keeps us going!
I have 2 NSVs for yesterday...
1.) I didn't binge! When I wanted more to eat, just for the sake of eating, I grabbed a kiwi and strawberries!
2.) I got my husband to go for a walk with me! He wasn't impressed, but he walked and we got to talk. I like having someone go with me, especially on the busy road we live on!
Went on my all-day hiking trip with my biology class today, in a forested area and a high desert area of Oregon. I took along my camera so I that could get some nature shots for my photography class (as a 2-in-1 deal) and needless to say, I sometimes lagged behind to get a few good shots. The group would end up way ahead of me, and without even thinking about it- I JOGGED to catch up. UP UPHILL TRAILS. WITHOUT BEING WINDED.. and MINIMAL TUMMY JIGGLING!! I am soooooo damn excited! My legs felt so amazing and strong from all the working out I've done. I have never, ever, EVER felt comfortable enough to jog/ run because of tummy jiggling, boob flopping, and windedness.
I'm on vacation. My victories this week surely will not be good food choices, but what they have to be are activity, so that I do not come from vacation weighing more!
Went for a 1/2 hour walk and also a half hour paddle boat ride. I was pretty tired, but it felt great to get some exercise. More shall come today!
I just realized today that I had a major NSV yesterday (for me at least, lol).
I stayed on plan at a birthday lunch celebration! I ordered roasted veggie filled burrito, cut it open and only ate the veggies inside, ate my black beans, one forkful of rice, and skipped the sopapillas that were brought out for the table...and I don't regret my decision one bit!
That was a HUGE NSV for me considering that I love Mexican food and everyone else was ordering plates full of cheese filled, cheese covered, deep fried yumminess .
1) I work at DQ and for the first time I was able NOT to give into temptation and eat something at work. I had a good breakfast and every time I smelled a great burger going out or a yummy blizzard I went to the back and had a little piece of my beef jerky.
2) I managed to get day 2 of my 30 day shred done even though day 1 kicked my butt and I was so sore I could barely kneel down or step up the steps!
3) I went to work this morning to get a few things and even though I hadn't eaten yet I managed to avoid buying anything to eat AGAIN.
