I've asked my doctor about medications before that I'm on that could cause it but none of them have that as a side effect (eventhough I still think birth control is a cause of that) but I do also have PCOS which I know was mentioned here before and it causes people with it to have an easier time gaining weight. But as I said before, I think it may be stress. Also, I've noticed lately that I'm giving in to little temptations and just..going with them..which is bad.
Who knows..maybe I just need the new program or something. I hope.

Hi everyone,
Would you mind if I join in? I just started WW last week and had a 3.5 pound loss for my first week. I am really excited about the new changes to WW too.
Peanut - I know something I am working on is not allowing my weight to affect my sense of worth. I get really down on myself too, but I am focusing on trying to embrace life and not let my weight affect my choices or stop me from doing things I want to do. You seem to be doing great! Plateaus are very common and you will probably break through this plateau soon so stay strong.

Thank you and congrats on your first 3.5lb loss.
I'm young and unfortunately we live in a world which is all about image. I was thin once and I'm just so determined to get back to that. My family thinks I'm "obsessing" but neither of them understand how frustrating this is, my mother who lost all of her weight through a gastric bypass surgery is the main person. So it's good to come here and talk to people who get it. I'm just trying not to stress. This week is a very tempting week yes with the holiday but it's also a very sad week for me seeing as my dads (deceased) birthday is tomorrow and as this is the 2nd year that i will have to make the turkey by myself with him being gone. I just hope I pull out of this funk and whatever else it is. My weigh in is tomorrow morning so I'll be updating.

What is PCOS? Am I that thick that I have no clue?
Chubbymommy, of course you are welcome. The more the better as we truly need to be there for each other. I, too, am looking forward to the new program.
I know, Peanut, that our society seems to put so much weight (get it?) on being slim, but we know that it's truly the person inside that is what counts.
I think sometimes we think that people are looking at us critically when they are too self involved to be concerned with us - they all have their own issues.
I'm sorry about the loss of your dad as well. That can make a holiday particularly trying.
I lost both my parents recently and holidays are so hard. I'm lucky to have my husband's family all coming for Thanksgiving and it is distracting me.
I am worried about all the extra food for Thanksgiving, but I also realized that it's only a couple of days and then it's clean out the refrigerator time and time to get back to "normal", whatever that is.
I freeze lots of my Thanksgiving leftovers. I like to make up meals and freeze things and then it's out of sight in the freezer. : ) That works well for me.

PCOS is Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome. Cysts on the ovaries that cause a hormonal imbalance and also with PCOS the body doesnt release enough insulin and in turn makes it harder for the body to break down glucose making it easier for sugar to sit in the body and store as fat and cause weight gain.
I take Birth Control for the hormones so that I can get regular periods as oppose to the HIGHLY irregular ones I used to get before being diagnosed when I was 14 (ALSO WHEN I WAS 130 POUNDS ) and I'm also on something called metformin which is a pre-diabetes medication but is also being prescribed to women with PCOS to help with the symptoms.

Thanks for the welcome!
Something I used to always think was that my family was ashamed of me or loved me less because I had gained weight (I was average to thin before I got pregnant with my older son 4 years ago and never lost 40 pounds of baby weight) but then I realized that was just in my head. Actually something that has helped me a lot is reading blogs of other "losers". This blog is my favorite. She expresses so well many of the thoughts I have struggled with.
Sorry - can't post the link, but the title is Becoming an Ex Yo-Yo Dieter and it is on Blogger.
I weighed in today and I have lost 4 more pounds so my total is up to 7.5 pounds. I am thrilled!!! I love that this is really working for me and I even have more energy for eating so much better.
I am nervous about tomorrow though - anyone else?

Trust me, everyone who joins is nervous that they wont be able to do it at first but it's actually easy and you DO lose weight. There will be people at your meeting who have lost tremendous amounts of weight. You can do it!

How did everyone do for the holiday weekend? I only gained a half a pound after the big day so I didn't think that was too bad. I am back on track now and feeling good.
I cannot wait to join the new online program - I am planning on doing that later today. My husband is going to try it too.
Leanne - welcome! I think you chose the right diet to start with. WW is really nice - it is not as restrictive as other diets, it just teaches you how to eat for health and weight loss. I have tried other diets and I am always miserable within a week. This is so much easier.

Well, you will get the pocket guide which lists foods and their points along with your weight record and helpful tips. The calculator and any other extra necessity you may want are purchasable at the meeting locations. As of right now the new PointsPlus calcultor is 5.95.

Hi Linda, I hope you remember me. IT looks like there are some new people here. I have been off the WW wagon for a while. Actually I just had my thyroid removed in late september and haven't even had a chance to think about getting back on track food wise. Until, I noticed that they launced a new program today. Kind of peaked my interest. I am going through a lot of changes right now.. I am in the middle of changing jobs, and of course trying to adjust to my life without a thyroid
Anyway, just wanted to drop in and say hello and hopefully soon I will be joining ww again. I think I might do the online program this time around just because I don't have time or energy to go into the meetings.
I hope everyone is doing well..
