Default Do you experience weight gain during the time of the month?

I was just wondering, I got my period yesterday, and I weighted myself this morning, and I was a pound heavier. Is this normal to experience during that time of the month?

Very normal and common. I usually gain about 1 pound pre-TOM and another 1-2 pounds during.

Upwards of 5 lbs for me! I stay far, far away from the scale until it's all said & done.

When we have our period we retain water. Which, one of the ingredients in Midol is caffine which helps to get rid of some of it.. but we do retain. And plus we're hungry more.. and eat more chocolate LOL.. but it usually goes back down. I don't weigh myself when I have TOM, I just wait until its done.

It's very normal, but that doesn't make it any less frustrating. I've just finished my TOM, and the scale has not been friendly at all. Then again, I keep having to pull up my pants because they're getting loose. What a world!

How annoying. My TOM is now and I gained 3 lbs that aren't budging this week. Aaaargh. I have the feeling I'm going to have to start over on these pounds.

i noticed that it feels really good after your peak TOM and like 5 lbs are gone overnight.
i struggled with the gain over the last couple days. i forgot to add a whole week from my last cycle, so i didn't even consider the gain would be TOM. glad i did the math again. the terrible munchies clued me in.
like Dovey, my pants and rings are getting looser, so im not going to stress.

Well, Im a bit backwards.....

about 2 days before tom arrives, my body goes into elimination mode! kwim? I usually loose a lb or 2 right before, then hope that over the week I dont put it back on. Sometimes Im successful, sometimes not.

I sometimes even bloat for a few days after it is over, then see my weight drop back down to where it was before "that week". I gain anywhere from 3-5 lbs. and I should have known better, but Friday I decided to torment myself by weighing, KNOWING I would show a gain due to TOM, and of course I did show a 3 lb gain and I was even crankier than before and I weighed in at the gym like I always do. Next month I will be kinder and gentler to myself!!!

Thank you all for mentioning this. It just occured to me last week that this may be happening. I swear I ate no more than my points and not even all of my flex points and I gained +8. It was only week 3. I was so bummed. My cycle is all over the place so I need to pay attention better. Felt better after I figured out the period deal.

I am the oddball. I gain during ovulation and usually have a whoosh of weight loss around my period.

I'm having my TOM right now. I'm very bloated and haven't weighed myself. I'm not going to until its over. The other nice thing is that the battery went on our scale and its an oversized watch battery so we don't have one lying around. So that makes it easier to not weigh in.. I can't LOL.
I also forgot to mention, exercise helps to get rid of some of the retention and bloating. Even if you have no motivation, do a little bit, that will help!!
Good job working through it guys!!
