Default Extra points for breast feeding moms??

Hey all..

A friend of mine is breast feeding.. how many extra points do they recommend daily for women who are breast feeding? I would assume that it is quite a few..

Thanks
Kim

It is the same..based on her weight! Yes she does get a lot more points but you need need to know her weight. For example if she weighs less than 150 28-33 150-174 30-35
Hope this helps

Another detail it mentions in the book is that those point ranges are for women who are exclusively breastfeeding. When the baby's weaned you go back to regular points--I'm assuming that the more solids the baby eats the closer to regular point ranges you get, i.e. more solids for baby = less points for mom. I have to admit, though, that my baby's a year old and I forgot about scaling the points back with solids and I'm losing just fine with the original extra 10 breastfeeding points. (She still is nursing quite a lot, though.)

Default just had a baby and am breastfeeding

If you are breastfeeding exclusively, you need an extra 500 cal/day witch is about 10 points. Also, it is not recomended that you loose more than 1 lb/week! In the first few weeks after giving birth you are likely to loose a lot of water wt not to mention the wt of the baby and placenta. (I lost 20 lbs last week for example!), but once your wt bottoms out you need to be careful.

Personally I am trying 40 points a day because I needed to eat in the mid 40s to maintain my wt before I got pregnant. I just started yesterday, so I don't know how well that will work. I figure it is better to be safe and not loose at first than to compromise my milk supply. I will adjust my points as needed.

good luck to your freind!
