Default For those of you who do Body for Life...

I am not interested in the diet part of the program just wanted to try the weight training part of the program. Here is my problem: The heaviest I can life for say bicep curls is 12 lbs. so this should be the weight I would use for the 6 reps correct? Now, what weight would I start out at for the 12 reps? Sorry, I just can't seem to grasp this pyramid training Thanks! Also, maybe I shouldn't be doing this type of training because my goal is not to gain muscle but just to tone what I have??!

Toning is the same as building muscle. There really is no such thing as toning. To make your muscle look more firm, you need to build more muscle and reduce the amount of fat that is stored in and over it.

Picking your starting weights at first is kind of a trial and error thing. If 12 pounds is the absolute heaviest that you can curl for 6 repetitions, I'd guess that you should start at around 8 pounds for the 12 rep set. As you get stronger, you'll be able to start with a heavier weight and complete each set with a heavier weight.

Don't forget to read the book completely, including the explanations of how diet and exercise work to reshape your body.

I was going to say something about the diet actually ... ok, I will .... I use some elements of BFL. I particularly like the explanations of portion sizes and the fact that it pretty 'clean' eating.
