Question A weightlifting ?

I had been lifting weights before I started BFL, but what I used before was opposite you went from the most weight you could lift to the lowest. I have been following Bill's intensity sheets and have found I am not lifting as much weight as I once did because my muscles just wasted by the time I get up to my "10" or I can't do the full 12 reps. Any recommendations? Am I reading him wrong?

I thank you in advance for you input.
Miss Chris

It probably depends on the exercise. I had the same problem on some exercises where I was starting with the lowest weight and couldn't complete the high point set at the end. Still, that is lifting to failure, in other words, a success. If you're starting at too high a weight that can be a problem. I had to change up a lot before finding a good starting weight but if you're starting at the lowest and not getting through 12 at the end, you're hitting your tens. I found that when I would get to the high point and I had miscalculated, 12 was not enough, then I would do 15 or even 20. Sometimes, I'm just stronger or weaker than other days that I lift.

Thanks Susan. That makes sense. I have been using Bill's intensity sheets to kind of figure out where I need to be. In some ways its like starting over with weightlifting.

Thanks again,
Miss Chris

Default The first set of 12 is more like a warmup . . .

than a working set.
Then the set of 10 is slightly heavier.
The set of 8 and 6 should be the heavy (more like what you described you had been doing)
Then the last two sets of 12 are going to be lighter and the second 12 you may even have to "drop set" meaning have some lighter weights ready to use if you poop out after say 5 or 6 reps grab those smaller weights and use them to finish the 12.

That's allowed!

Good luck!

Default I will get the hang of the boards here, eventually . . .

I'm not much of a sports fan and cars are not my passion.
I don't get scared off very easily either!

All you have to do is talk about food and I'll be paying keen attention!

That pretty much describes what I have been doing but I felt pretty woosy about dropping weight midset. So thats allowable. Awesome. Thank you!

(I would show my husband Rich's picture but would just make the crack laced girl scout cookies hit his mouth faster. The first time I took this man to the gym he thought the Emergency stop on the treadmill was how you got off! )

Careful, Rich! I can see some incisors gleaming on some of the board members! I heard your new fan club on L&S as well, not that it isnt well deserved hehe.

If I had to pic an avatar to look like I would pic JEC's but thats because it reminds me of pinup art by Olivia (and who wouldnt want to be a half alien with neat tattoo like skin patterns and masses of perfect hair?) lol

As long as your last set is near impossible to finish you'll be doing just fine

Rochemist, are you a trekkie? Next week they show the last episode of voyeger here and I CANT WAIT! AUGH! lol
