Default Freakishly strong days?

Does anyone else out of the blue have days when they are freakishly strong?

It is not insignificant for me. I will suddenly have a day where I can lift about 25-30% more than I can on every other day. (even the dang biceps!)

And then it returns to normal.

I havent been able to figure out any real pattern. It isnt well rested THAT's for sure. Almost always it is AFTER a serious cardio workout. The last time it happened I had run 10 miles of hills that morning. But it isnt like I can get an adrenalin rush in the morning and consistantly do the weight either.

It could possibly be cycle related but with Mirena my hormones arent supposed to fluctuate all that much. And a 1 day spike ?

Cant see a food correlation either. I mean I am usually a little stronger the day after a big food day, but not like this.

It happens to me. It's always after I eat eggs (as opposed to some other protein) for breakfast, at a very specific point in my cycle. And not all the time when both of those things happen, just some of the time.

Yup- and it's not hormones or food for me either. I also have the opposite- days where I'm seemingly incapable of lifting what was previously routine. Those are usually klutz days as well.

mmmm. I'm same as Mel. Sometimes i have really 'strong' days and other times i have really pathetic days but i haven't figured out what causes either.

It's interesting that you mention cardio. I'm a powerlifter, and I find that moderate cardio on my off days helps me to recover better, so I can lift more the next day.

My energy levels are hugely affected by food, and by rest, but I definitely notice if I skip a cardio workout. I'll be achy, tire quickly, and really weak the next day.

Same thing happens to me, and I can't find a pattern either. Not rest for me either, may be hormonal. I lift better when I have worked out several hard days in a row. I see the same thing when I run as well. Some days I can barely eke out three miles, other days I stop at 8 just because I ran out of time. Best runs are usually the day after a good strength workout, or if I do weights in the morning and run in the afternoon.

Every time someone adds something to this thread i'm hoping that it's an explaination. Instead of that we've now introduced the old running connundrum!! Yep, the same with me, sometimes i have fantastic effortless runs and sometimes it's like running uphill through porridge. WHY THOUGH?!

No help for you! But I did my training session and I was early so I did 20 minutes on the elliptical first, then got my butt handed to me then this afternoon had a MUCH better run than this morning.

I thought was having a freakishly strong day on tuesday which made ZERO sense as I was at high elevation. And then I realized that only the dumbbell free weight exercises were strong. The bodyweight stuff was weak or normal. I think either my gym's free weights run heavy or the vacation gym's free weights run light. how weird.
