I am scheduled to have my LapBand surgery on Monday, March 20th. I am really excited and a little nervous and other than having my kids I have not had any other surgery(but I am really ready for this change).
I have been on my liquid diet for almost two weeks and it has not been that bad, even with fixing dinner for the DH and kids.
I just want to thank all of you for your great advice and wisdom that you all provide in this forum. It has helped me a great deal. Thanks.
Good luck on Monday, Deborah. I'm sure everything will go just fine for you. If you weren't a little nervous, I'd be worried. Just think about how soon you'll be able to add more of the little dancing fellas to the bottom of your posts and you'll be fine!
Good luck again both of you. See you on the flip side of your surgery with positive updates. Do either of you have anyone who can let us know how it goes?
Are you prepared for when you get home, like with GasX, broth, stuff like that. What diet are you suposed to follow after the surgery? meaning how many weeks on liquids, etc. Are you staying over night for surgery or home the same day?
Everything went fine. Just a bit sore, actually a lot sore until yesterday. But now I have the hiccups. Can anyone explain that one to me. They wanted me to walk while I was in the hospital but it was very hard, but I did a little bit and I've been doing more and more each day. I am feeling really good now except for the hiccups and the incisions are starting to itch.
Leenie,
I will be on liquids for two weeks, I go back to the Dr. on 4/4. I came home on Tuesday morning, which I guess is considered outpatient surgery since they only keep you for 23 hours. The liquid diet is taking a lot of getting use to. It is very hard watching everyone else eat normal (fatting) foods, while I drink shakes and broth (actually that was yesterday, my parents anniversary) but I am better today and getting doing well.
debo - so glad to know you're ok... and managing [it's no picnic, but better days are ahead - promise!]
as for the hiccups - if they're not gone by monday, call your doctor.
hiccups are due to a 'twitchy' diaphragm. lots of things can cause this, including surgery, stress, anesthesia, etc. did they start RIGHT after the surgery or a couple of days later?
