Question 17 and surgery.

i know a girl who at 17 just had weight loss surgery. she wasn't morbidly obese or anything along those lines at all.. she was 5'4 and maybe 180 lbs at the most. what i'm wondering is how this will affect her more when she'd older. does anyone have an idea?? i know i'm not her mother and it's not my place to tell her or anything... but i'm simply wondering for my own information.

that's a real tough question, melissa. it's hard for me to understand why she was approved for the surgery. did she get the lap band or the full gastric bypass?

over the long haul, given the high risk of vitamin deficiencies, and calcium absorption problems, she MUST MUST MUST take her supplements. osteoporosis is a real possibility.

without more information, it's not easy to give a more detailed answer... i wish her all the best.
