Default Crickets

It has been awfully quiet around here. What has everyone been up to? I tried Zumba for the first time this week and I LOVE it. I'm awful at it, but it makes me laugh trying and the music is great.

zumba DOES look fun, but i'm a complete klutz! and i wonder if everyone has over-partied! sometimes folks in this forum just kind of drop off the face of the earth.

i've been working - in fact, today was the first time in three days that i've actually walked out of the house! not a fact i'm proud of, by the way. i have to figure out how to work fulltime at home and still stick my nose out the door at least once a day.

Seriously, the "crickets" made me laugh!

I have been on vacation for a few weeks but I have stayed as busy as all get out! Between returning to work, my daughter and her husband and my wonderful grandkids, getting ready for another art show (tooo much fun!), setting up another modeling gig (this one is a lingerie shoot! woohoo! I have never been so confident!), and gearing up for the spring semester....ya, I've been a bit busy! hehehehe

Hope everyone had a great new year! I know I have so far!

I'm busy preparing for baby's arrival in late March! I spent this whole weekend so far cooking things to freeze for the first couple weeks after we bring him home so I won't have to cook. So far, I've made mini crustless quiches (with spinach, sausage, cheese, and onion), 2 whole spaghetti squashes, a big container of mashed cauliflower, pot sticker patties (basically the insides of pot stickers without the carby wrapper), and a cheesy cauliflower and pork casserole. I plan to also make some soups, maybe some chili, some other casseroles, some mini meatloaves, and some oopsie rolls. I also did lots of grocery shopping and stocked up on easy meats and frozen veggies and things like frozen meatballs for easy-to-prepare meals. Thank goodness for the full-size freezer in our basement!

I've also scheduled my baby classes (childbirth class, breastfeeding clas, and child care class), am helping with some planning for my baby showers (one with friends at the end of January and one with family in February), and am building up my baby registry (not just to give people ideas for gifts, but also to keep a list for myself of things we still need to get!).

We were with family in MD for Christmas and with my family in Va Beach for New Year's. And, despite the holidays, work never really slowed down, so I didn't take any time off at all over the past few weeks and barely really took off the weekends and holidays.

Now, I have an ultrasound tomorrow, an OB checkup on Thursday, and then I believe I move to having checkups every 2 weeks instead of every 4 weeks.

Next weekend, my parents are coming to stay with us to help me paint my nursery furniture (was given to me by a friend for free, but I despise the color of the wood stain, so we're painting white), and then I am going down to their house for the following weekend because it will be my niece's birthday and Chinese New Year (my BIL is Chinese, so my sister's family has a Chinese New Year celebration).

No Zumba for me, thanks Actually, I have to talk to my OB about the issue of getting lightheaded from just STANDING. It happened multiple times yesterday when I was cooking in the kitchen that I had to sit down, sometimes even on the floor since I didn't think I would make it to the living room. I make sure not to let the kitchen get too hot, and I drink extra water when I'm on my feet, so I'm not sure what it is; I just assume chalk it up to the oddities of pregnancy!

So, yeah...I've been a little busy and don't anticipate slowing down in the foreseeable future!

I have been cooking too! Loaded up on frozen meals for my hubby and I when classes start up again! I love to cook so no problem there, I am planning to do so all day today too! I love your food ideas Jill...I would love some recipes...are you getting them from another forum? I found Any Whey and have been loading up the protein content of sauces and things. It can be used at higher temps without as much of the clumping. Though if its too high it has the has the texture of crumbled tofu (which I love!)

I got lots of recipes from Linda's Low Carb site: http://www.genaw.com/lowcarb/recipes.html

heh, I WISH I loved to cook, but I hate the prep and the hot kitchen and handling raw meat and the cleanup...right now, we eat out every day, but I know we can't do that with a newborn, which is why I'm biting the bullet now and preparing as much as I can ahead of time

Thanks Jill, I will go have a look at the recipes. I don't eat much anymore but I'm from a large family and my mother was a great cook, therefore I have always loved to cook for anyone that would eat my food! That sure hasn't changed! Now I just cook with more of an emphasis on health, something that most of the people in my life appreciate, too. It's one of the reasons my husband lists as to why he married me! hehehehe I love to go out too though, especially when I am busy with work, family, and college! I don't have time to breathe let alone cook and clean up! I still do but it is a choice sometimes between cooking and cleaning up! hehehehe

I foresee you eating out with the baby in tow...it could work every now and then, I am sure of it! Hey, march isn't that far off! Have I shared enough pics of my grand kids yet????

here's some cuties!! AHHHH they are huge files!!! SORRY!!!!

Angela (pathetic Nana!! )

No wonder its been so quiet around here; you've all been so busy! Seriously, the most that is new with me is the Zumba. Oh, and I've apparently lost enough weight to start gaining male attention. That has been a bit of an (mostly) unwelcome adjustment, but otherwise, life is pretty quiet. I don't feel like a newbie freak anymore, now that I can eat fairly normal since my stricture was fixed.

I'm going to check out that website too. One of my goals is to cook more this year, at least one new recipe a month (may sound lame, but since I live on greek yogurt and cottage cheese, its actually a challenge for me, lol).

Jen, take that greek yogurt you live on and mix a 6oz container plain variety, with a half a peeled, seeded, and chopped cucumber, 2 cloves minced garlic and 2 tsp dried dill. Put a scoop of that on top of a 4-6oz salmon filet, wrap loosely in a foil packet and cook in a 425 degree oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily. YUMMY!
