There is an interesting article on oprah.com by Martha Beck, a behavioral psychologist.

http://www.oprah.com/health/How-to-L...-Thin-Person/3

Basically, she talks about how most of us don't know how to distinguish between our desire to eat and real hunger pains. So, the only way to counter this conclusion is to make an extremely fixed plan the day before. You are also supposed to make flashcards with sayings on them that you'll read many times throughout the day.... they will say things like "I know that if I want to be thin, I have to do things that I don't want to do". Then work on following your plan.

Your base problem - desiring bad food that is available to you - will plague you for awhile. I suggest asking if yourself if your toddler and teenager really need the bad food - or whether they will thank you later for keeping the bad food out of the house - or, only buying it for special occasions. You will enter some resistance at first, but they will learn (scientifically proven) to enjoy healthy food immensely.... such as the taste of fresh fruit, raw nuts, and yummy salads.

The only other thing to practically do would be to make yourself leave the house, leave the fridge. Good Luck! you are certainly not alone!

The money you would have spent on snacks - give to the teenagers, I'll bet they won't mind the trade.
One Rule: They can't bring snacks into the house.
The toddler will enjoy eating mommy's treats - fruit, yogurt, etc.

The first few weeks after surgery is extremely hard. What helped me was drinking hot chicken broth, the smell and the salt hit the spot in times I wanted to chew the walls. Also, ice pops (no fruit chunks). For me there was no limit on how much I could drink, so if I wanted something every hour I would have it. I would make chicken soup and strain it or I would buy it in the stores. Also bullion packets work great.

Hang in there hon, I know its hard, especially with kids but it will be worth it because night now you are concentrating on healing your insides.

There are times that I want to eat something so bad that I just go ahead and do it. Usually it only takes a couple of bites before I realize that I really didn't want it or that I wasn't really hungry.

I have found that it is alot less stressful for me to take that bite of cookie, chips or whatever it is that I'm craving rather than try to supress my "head hunger".

I know that may not work for everyone but it does for me. I am 9 months post gastric bypass and I had to find what works for me. (I am doing pretty well in my opinion. ) I think when it comes down to it that is what people have to do. Just because it works for one don't mean it works for everyone.

Hope your fill went well. I hope that you are doing ok!

Blessings~
