Red face PLease Help Me Figure This Out And Oh Hi!

HELLO i'm kinda new to the site i signed up but just been lurking. Anyway i had the vertical sleeve august 26 and as of today i'm down 80 pounds i'm 5'8.yes that great but i still have 93 more pounds to go. so i was a size 24 when i was 323 now i'm a size 20 only two pants sizes! i weigh 243 as of this morn. now yes i know i've lost weight but i don't see what other see and i don't think it really my mind ( i'm fairly sane) it very dishearting to look in the mirrior 20 pounds away from a hundred and i'm still don't see much of a change i mean yes i have collar bones and yadda yadda but i don't "feel" thinner i guess my question is when do you think i will "look" thinner to my self right now i just see a smaller fat version of my self.

xoxo,
nikki

oh honey. it took a LONG time for me to see myself THINNER!!!! after losing about 150 pounds, i walked up to a long, glass office building door, and stood there like a dope - because i saw a much thinner person in front of me!!! and where did she come from??? and why was she opening the door????

really - don't worry about this. the only advice i can give you is to do things that help keep you grounded in your body - i found exercise and massage helped me a lot.

congrats on doing such a great job!!

i know how you feel....well sort of....i've lost 40lbs and only down a size...sometimes 2 depending on the brand....it's very frustrating....but like jiffypop said, you'll realize it one day...and when that day comes, you'll be on cloud 9! accept the compliments and try to start believing in them! believe in yourself!!! you've done a great job so far, and i'm sure you'll continue doing a great job!!!

This is part of why diets never worked for me before - I would lose 50-60 pounds and not even go down one single pants size! I would get so frustrated that I would give up and end up back at square one again.

I think I lost a good 70 pounds from my surgery before I really needed to shop for smaller clothes. At 308.5 (weight on the day of surgery), I was wearing plus size 22 pants and 26/28 or 30/32 shirts (I've always been disproportionate - NO butt, and lots of back fat). Now, I'm consistently wearing regular (not plus) size 16 pants and XL shirts.

I know how hard it is to be patient, especially after all we've been through ith the surgery, but the smaller you are, the fewer pounds you'll need to lose between sizes, so things will start dropping noticably quicker once you reach a certain point. 6 months from now, you'll probably look back on this post and laugh!

Funny, but I still look at chairs with arms and, for a second, I wonder if I will fit. It's been more then a year that I have been close to my goal weight and I still worry about sitting on my boyfriend's lap. (he just laughs)

Try to do as my counselor would say to do...focus on the positive. I know it's hard but do as Oprah said years ago...stand in front of the mirror and try and find SOMETHING you're happy with. "My eyes are beautiful." "I like the narrowness of my ankles." "My arms are getting thinner." (Those were mine, find something that speaks to you) If you focus on the good, the bad will recede.

It's like falling in love with a man that's not perfect, the more you see his positives, the more handsome he becomes. Fall in love with yourself.

It takes a while for the brain to catch up to the body. So be gentle with yourself and just give it some time

Congrats on the weight loss WHHOOOOOT!

I have the exact feelings from when I dieted and such. I'd lose 60 lbs and maybe 2 sizes if i was lucky. I felt like I was crazy. I'd be a 28 at 290lbs and drop to 230 and still be squeezing into 24s. It's so bizarre.

But 80 lbs since august? wowzers! Just imagine what size you will be in another 4 months. Don't worry, you'll get there. =)

Bloodroses/Nikki I just joined 3fc and have a vertical sleeve scheduled for 6 or 3 months (depending on insurance) from now. Any words of wisdom for me? Thanks Ally

Have you thought about talking to someone (like a therapist) about this? It is really hard to change the way you see yourself. I mean, I weigh only about 8 pounds more than my coworker who I see as VERY thin and I still am in my head thinking that I look like a giant next to her. We are the same height and similar build, so that's not possible. I really spend a lot of time looking at myself and trying to get myself to accept that I am actually not the size I used to be. It's harder with surgery, too, I think, because we lose the weight so much more rapidly, it takes time for our head to catch up.
