Question Gas or not gas that is the question

It has been a month since I had bypass and I am experiencing a weird sensation on my left side. It feels like someone is poking me in my side or rib cage. After surgery, the Dr. and nurse said that it probably was a result of surgery and instruments used during surgery. Today during my support group the nurse thought it might be gas and asked me to monitor it for a few days. I am also having problems with bowel movements....none almost. I am using stool softners.
Has anyone experienced this problem?

in a word - YES. and in addition to the stool softeners, it might be a good idea to increase your water intake as well. honest!!!!!

and the nurse was right to tell you to keep an eye on it.
