Don't worry - it's at the very top of the forums page! Look here Success Stories. :D

Well, sorta.
It's now divided into the catagories "Goal" and "Mini Goals". Personally, I think that two don't add up to the same as the old. I personally am not at goal, I have about 50 pounds to go. And I don't set "mini goals" for myself. I have a new way of life, I am slowly but surely losing weight, and I don''t have a set timetable for me to do so. It is possible to have success without having it tied to the concept of goals. Hey, I had to buy new housecoats this weekend because I was simply swimming in my old ones (true story). It feel like a success to me, but it certianly wasn't a goal that I had thought of in any way. I might have mentioned it were there a general Success story forum that were not directed to the concept of "goals". This isn't my board, of course, and I have nothing to do with the way it is organized or run. Still, I feel that getting rid of the general Success Story forum was an unfortunate act. |
I understand how you feel tealeaf but most of the posts started in the mini-goals forum are not even goal related just NSVs similar to yours. So don't be afraid to use that forum just because you don't like the wording. I would have loved to read your housecoat story and anything else ya got.

Annie, I really miss the Success Stories section also... it was my favorite one here. I agree that Mini Goals is just not the same. I don't set them either and agree with you completely about having successes which have nothing to do with goals. the forum has not been quite the same since the section disappeared... I admit I feel "funny" about posting my stuff there too because a lot of my NSVs have nothing to do with goals, which somehow seem to be deemed more important. But oh well... we work with what we've got. :)
And Tracey I know what you mean... I do post some there but always feel as if I really shouldn't be since mine are not really goals met. But I do hope others will go ahead and share theirs too... as I said, that was my favorite section of the forum and I was really disappointed to see it disappear. Annie, thanks for sharing about your housecoats! Enjoy your new smaller ones!! Yay for you!!! I hope you will keep right on posting your NSVs!! I personally DO want to hear them and they are an encouragement to me! |

I enjoy browsing around all the other forums on this site but I do miss the old "Success Stories" format. I'm very grateful, though, to all the people who make this site possible, as I'd be lost without it! :) P.S. Thanks again for posting the Friday weigh-in thread. I always get such a kick out of your kitty avatar! |

I know that this might make me sound pretty hard headed, and I apologize for that. It's not a case that I am afraid to use the goal forum, more that I don't as a form of protest. I don't just dislike the wording, I have very strong feelings on this issue. I think that people who are trying to get fit are put under too much pressure to have goals, which usually take the form of "Lose X pounds by X date". This is fine and dandy if they hit that goal, much less so if they don't. "Hey, I said I wanted lose 10 pounds by July 4th; I've only lost 5. I've failed!" Um, no. Losing any weight is not a failure. But how many people just get discouraged and give up when they don't make a goal? Judging from what I've seen on the time I've been on this board, a goodly number. Equating the idea of success with the concepts of goals is just plain wrong and hurtful, in my opinion. I also don't see the need for this from a stylistic point of view. There is a forum for those who have hit main goal. There is also a Maintence forum, for those who have hit goal and now want to keep the weight off. I don't see the need for both forums. I mean, who wants to hit goal and then gain it all back? I can understand that the admins don't want there to be too many forums, and I am definately on board with that. There is another diet support forum I go to that has so many forums that it's hard to find what you are looking for, or remember where you might have posted what. But getting rid of a popular forum to basically introduce redundancy just doesn't make sense to me. Ok, I've rambled enough. Thanks for the encouragement about the house coat thing. Somehow, I never really considered that I might shrink out of my old ones! |
I miss the way the old success thread was set up as well.

Well when you put it that way tealeaf, I definitely feel where you are coming from. Maybe the PTB will read this thread and re-word it. And if they don't and you ever have an NSV you want to share, feel free to pm me. I'd love to hear it.

Actually the reason I don't set goals such as losing by a certain date etc is that I want my goals to be something that it is up to ME as to whether or not I achieve them. I decide, for example, whether I go out and exercise however many minutes in a week or month... but I don't have control over how much weight I lose by a certain date. And a LOT of my NSVs are... as said here... totally unexpected or things I never really thought about but are pleasant surprises. And it's not that I am hesitant to post them in the Mini Goals section out of any type of "fear" -- but rather it seems they are inappropriate there. Still it's a GREAT place here at 3FC and nice to have such wonderful support and encouragement.
Just thoughts. :) |
