Default Ugh!

I have been eating sooooo bad today. In the past few hours I've eaten so much bad stuff.....chips, a snack cake, candy corn and another kind of chips. Good Lord, I usually don't even have the stuff in the house but I bought it for snack food for my daughter at school and went on a little binge I guess. Ugh. I feel like crap, not only mentally but physically as well. Let's hope it is a lesson learned and I won't do that again!

Hi Sandra - I noticed that you're fairly new to 3FC, so first off, a big welcome to you. We've all made some poor choices in the past, or we wounldn't be here at 3FC, so don't feel alone, ok? Actually, I'm glad that you feel bad about your little binge so that if the opportunity to repeat it comes along, hopefully you'll remember these feelings and run the other way. As you said, we're hoping you learned a good lesson today. Having all that junk food in the house would be a big temptation to almost anyone, and I'm thinking your DD doesn't need all that, either. How about getting rid of it, and sending some healthier choices for her snacks?

Anyway, now that it's over, do whatever it is you need to do to try and make sure it doesn't happen again. We're here for you and I wish you the best!

Not to psychoanalyze you or anything, but you just started on this new diet (right?) and just had a binge. I think that you probably may feel a little deprived and just went for the goodies to satiate. It's ok and normal. Maybe you went a little too guns-a-blazin' into the diet. Personally I know that I love chocolate. So I eat chocolate........everyday. I make room for it in my 'meal plan.' Maybe you could do that with just a handful of chips or candy corn everyday or something so that you never feel deprived of it, and therefore have nothing to 'rebel' against with a binge.

Thanks everyone. I feel better today...back on track. I'm drinking extra water to help with all the salt in those chips!! Normally I do have healthy snacks for my daughter so I don't eat them all...I don't know what happened, I just bought the junk "for her" and I don't think she's even touched it! Anyway, I'm going to throw both bags away...I know it's a waste but the money is already spent so what I do with the food really doesn't matter.
It really could have been a "haven't had this stuff in so long, I gotta have it" trick on my mind. Well, I had it, felt like crap physically and don't want it now. Maybe I'll have one thing that I love and allow myself to eat a small amount of it on a regular basis just to keep that sort of thing from happening again.
Have a great day.

I agree with all of the above! I don't have any kids, but I know that when I do, I won't be feeding them chips and cakes and candy no matter how much they weigh. I don't ever want them to have to go through what I have gone through my whole life being fat. I want them to be as healthy as possible, and there are plenty of yummy snacks out there that aren't filled with as much sugar, fat, and empty calories. I won't feed them anything I won't feed myself! Which brings me to the other point...

You absolutely need to allow yourself to eat what you like or crave; just keep it within reason. I know I have a small 100-calorie bag of Smartfood white cheddar popcorn every day. If I had a big bag, I would probably eat ALL of it, but I only get the small bags, and that's enough to make me happy, so I know I won't go home and binge on anything else because I've had my treat I'm not saying that I don't eat (or will never feed my children) any junk food at all, but it all neds to be in moderation, no matter how old you are--they should be treats, not everyday expectations

Ahh, posted at the sime time! Glad to hear those aren't the normal snacks for your daughter--I'm sure she's quite healthy and will be very happy to have a healthier mom, too!

Just a comment for shrinkingchica--hey, if it works for you to be able to include those foods in your meal plan and REALLY stop when you've had the handful, GREAT! Congratuations!

For me, there is no stopping once the bag is open, so I just don't have certain foods around. Been through it enough!

Same here, which is why I only buy single-serving size containers. If I need ice cream, I get one of those little Friendly's sundaes. If I need chips or candy or cookies, just a little individual package is enough. If I ned pizza, I can get a single slice from my cafeteria or from a pizza parlor so I don't have leftovers
